Temple vs. Rutgers

Not only would we be, but, we'd lose by at least that much. We are NOT a good team fellas.

The Temple lovefest continues...wonder if their record was 0-7 if we would even be having this discussion. No doubt Temple is playing great this year but I swear we eat our own over here (win/lose) and show love to everyone else.

no $hit Dick Tracy. Why would anyone be complimenting an 0-7 team. now back to reality.... #21 and almost beating #9 Irish. They're legit. get over it. They have had the last 2 Coaches move up into P5 schools and this guy will be #3. You know anyone interested in Flood?

Calm yourself down. No one ever said they weren't legit if you read my post I said they are playing great this year so what is there for me to get over exactly? I personally don't give a flying f^*# about the Owls and was making a point of why do we care now? Did you care about Temple last year...oh right they were 6-6 so I guess not...back to reality now.

ah yeah, I did. Cause they've been scoring players who Rutgers was interested in for a few years now. I live as close to Temple as I do to Piscataway. I always keep an eye on my neighbors. Decent enough chance had we played them last year they would have been 7-5 and we would have been 6-6.

Are there any players on Temple that RU completely whiffed on taking academics, etc. into consideration?

I love the people who "don't care about" other programs or players that decide to go elsewhere.

On one hand, I get the whole Tony Soprano "you're dead to me thing."

On the other, intelligent, strategic thinkers don't ignore the broader landscape.

Of course it is relevant that the week after we were mudholed on national TV, Temple has a chance to beat the most storied program in the history of college football on the same exact stage--and oh, their QB, RB and 2nd best defensive player are all guys who wanted to be at RU (including a legacy) and were shown no interest by Elmer Fludd. Of course it "matters."

I have only watched them twice. Last week, I watched the first half of their game and found it boring due to not much happening. Of course, they went on to win easily in the second half that I didn't watch.
Last night's game was really different. The owls were intense. Their swarming to the ball reminded me of the GS defense. Obviously, much more interesting and wanting them to beat ND only made it more entertaining.
They may not have been as highly rated as players, but it didn't seem to keep them out the game. They had a chip on their shoulders.
Sadly, I do not see any sense of urgency or intensity in our team this year. They look to be following a script more than using their athleticism.

Temple would win this game easily. Temple beat up Penn State, literally.

Yes they are a senior and Junior led team that has peaked at the right time but remember Walker and Thomas are Juniors, they will be back.

People are saying this is a dumb thread. Wrong.

The Temple versus Rutgers comparison shows how the Rutgers program has been going through the motions for the last 3 years while Temple has been pro active. It is absolutely pathetic.

temple is better than we are this year and they would destroy us this year. they are a 1 year wonder. starting next year temple is going to be temple again, a bad football program.
Exactly. They are having a Cinderella year and are playing great as some teams have experienced at some point in time including us in 2006. I believe they would probably beat us this year because they have a good coach, who knows how to make use of the talent he has meanwhile Dudd is making us look like a high school team out here. Good coaching makes all the difference and I'm hoping and praying we will make some changes sooner rather than later.

26 Seniors on their team. Defense loses a lot this year. Remember Central Florida two years ago?. They are what 0-8 this year.

Temple is a well coached, senior led team. They will not be a good team next year when the coach is gone and they need to rebuild.
Which helps confirm that COACHING is sooo important. Can't argue against experienc though.

But at least they have a great BCS bowl victory to look back on. I realize some of our fans prefer regular visits to 3rd tier bowl games to this but I for one don't. In theory regular visits to bowl games was supposed to be a launch pad to better bowl games by attracting better talent but in reality this has not happened and the way things are going it is, at best, 3rd tier bowl games as far as the eye can see.

Michigan State is better than Notre Dame. We played them pretty close. While the coaching here has been consistently poor, I honestly cannot tell you if we would beat Temple or not. Likely not at this point.. but it would be possible.

I'm not so sure how much better MSU is than ND. Regardless, I'm not a fan of the transitive property in football.

It's safe to say, based on our body of work, than MSU was our high water mark for playing over our head for the season. In my view, you line up and play MSU 10x, the game we actually played on the field that night is as close as it gets--a loss. I think a few more might be within 7-10. I think a solid handful are curb stompings.

We would not match up well with ND. Not because they are national juggernauts. I just don't think that we defend well what they do well. And the way to score points on ND is to attack their secondary. Good luck with that if you're us.

We suck. Now everyone get off the board and reconvene here next week when we all lament how we are now are Michigan's b!t<h.

Michigan should win 52-3, else they should consider it a loss.
