Kim Caldwell- former HC at (Div. II) Glenville State and last year at Marshall

Thoughts/predictions on likelihood she'll get them back up top with SCar,LSU, UConn.

Very interesting hire … she’ll be playing in the big time with no name recognition against the likes of Staley, Mulkey, etc. Wish her luck, but she will have an uphill climb.

My question is whether Harper was a bad recruiter or didn’t know how to play the NIL game. The Vols take other women’s sports very seriously (e.g. softball) so I cannot imagine why a program as storied as WBB wasn’t closing the deal on high school prospects or the portal. Maybe the ghost of Pat was too much to overcome and it will be a good thing to go outside the orange coaching tree.

That's a good question. I tend to believe it was the lack of recruiting, which was very surprising to me. She struggled to get the traditional Tenn-type elite talent to fill the roster. Even after adding the young lady to her staff who was supposed to be a great recruiter. Can't remember her name.....Sam ??? I think they are in as good a position as anyone else with NIL. Their massive number of supporters are still onboard.

They better hope this new hire can get the recruits flooding back to Tennessee because their program runs the risk of losing the memory and benefit of that Rocky Top/P. Summit tradition, in regard to recruiting. I say this because, as we know, if young folks don't know about you, and weren't alive to experience it, then it means nothing to them. Today's recruits are becoming too young to really know anything about the Tenn glory days.

They have a wealth of resources there…they’ll spare nothing to compete at a much higher level again. It’s hard to compete against the “ghost” one of the top 2 coaches EVER (Auremia being the other)

That's the fans , recruits tend to go by the Coach and if the program is famous when they think of committing.
The record Caldwell had at Glenville State (191-24)
shows she was a very successful HC at a lower level, and the talent she goes after might be impressed by it if her personality is one that gives off confidence and impresses those players she's trying to get to play for the Vols
