The guy was assumed to care less about sports (and might still) but when the football program began appearing in police blotters he quickly stepped in to suspend and now fire Flood. That coupled with Hermann's dismissal which was very ballsy but right on, Barchi has definitely showed backbone.
After JO posted that this site is must reading in the RU admin, I am now even more convinced that me calling him Balless Barchi stirred him to action. Yes, I am that delusional. With great power comes great responsibility. I promise to use it for good.
I strongly suggest thanking Brown and Schmidt (sp). I'll guarantee you they got President Barchi's ducks in order and most likely offered him the financial juice. This emboldened Barchi to a point where he fired both Herman and Flood. That's the way I think it went down.
So glad President Barchi moved quickly. Kudos to him and the Administration. Having watched Rutgers bumble so many other things over the years I was not convinced Flood was gone and was expecting the worst. Having Herman removed was even better and to have an AD hired already superb. Great job. It needed to be done and we can compete in Big Ten. Once we commit the money to the program by hiring an experienced proven coach the return on investment will be ten fold. If money is that tight now go to Big Ten and "borrow" from the expected 35-40 million we will be receiving in 6-7 years. It is a huge coming windfall.. They would welcome our investment in the program as it only adds to the TV numbers and increased revenue for all.
