The Good:
  1. Punt blocks: An RU identity. Lets keep the throttle down going forward 9 out of 10 x.
  2. 2nd half D. Best it's been all year. Neb got a little conservative, but D did what was needed. Love to see this be the game that turned on the light for the D.
  3. Ben Black as a weapon. Yes there was one miss, but he was beating coverage. EVERY game needs at least one go route. AND for csake, he is the guy to do ko return-no debate., unless its run out the game time.
  4. KM first half-ran great. Gave up on run calls or at least play action to him.
  5. Dremel punt return--not half bad and took advantage of open field. Fine with bringing the house on punt block and telling Dremel ONLY return if no one for 5 plus yards.
  6. The fight till the end and giving chance to tie/win.
Not so good:
  1. Right side of o line-same as every game.
  2. This time left side too, with White struggling.
  3. Fletcher blocking still an issue. A little improvement would make a big difference.
  4. Kick returns. Forget risk/reward talk. If no one within 1 yards and inside the field of play, gotta try to get plus 25 yrd line.
  5. Easy to read play calls. Anyone watching even a modicum of film can see the Fletcher roll out coming or the Miller in motion out, or the for 2 years rb and qb run to the line and make like its a changed play but its a handoff move. REALLY have some weapons (Black Long Miller strong Duff--wheres Brantly btw?) and need to not do the obvious. More screens to Strong, go routes to Balck and everything to Miller.
  6. No play action-been discussed at length.
  7. Patel--the 52 yrder was on track and wind blew it out and wont blame him but confidence seems shaky. Hopefully a few makes will get it back.
  8. Not fielding punt and flipping field.

As expected, more not so than goods this week.

Re refereeing:

I know the trope is it can be called every play, but there have been some real blatant offensive holding not called.

Would love to see some stats to put this in comparison.

I have noticed that every big name team.. if the game is too close for them at halftime.. they come out in the 2nd and HOLD HOLD HOLD and, suddenly, their running game works.

Not sure about stats, but seem like more first half holding calls occur and whistle swallowed towards the end of the game.
