A couple questions ...

1.) What happens if a kid on any sort of partial scholarship walks away mid-year? I assume the scholarship goes out prior to the academic year or semester to pay for the schooling?

2.) Any chance Mulligan returns?

3.) How is Lightner recovering from his injury?

4.) Is Lightner able to competitively wrestle 197 in college? What's his projected weight? Is he a backup heavy? Despite being a NJ state champ, do you think he'll be able to compete at a top level in college?

5.) Any other prospects for those upper weights next year? JC? Move up Gravina? Other incoming freshmen? Transfer a possibility?

Will Janzer be wrestling 197?

I think Janzer will RS and replace Gravina at 184. Janzer is a special talent, you want to be careful how you handle him.

I think barring a transfer or some surprise, we will have Lightner at 197 next year, which is obviously not ideal. Very very few 197 can compete right away out of high school.

These are just my guesses.

Correnti showed promise at 197. Why did he bump up to HWT when he was a national qualifier at 197. Was it to fill our hole at HWT in the future or because keeping him at 197 was too hard of a weight cut? I think I remember him being 220 in HS.

I think he was originally brought in to be a Heavy. He wrestled 220 in HS and played football in HS in the 240-250 range.

EDIT: Don't forget that Mulligan had a nice Freshman year wrestling unattached. I think he even beat Correnti head-to-head at a tourney and looked poised to take over at 197 this year and be very competitive. I am not going to speculate as to what is going on with him now.

Let's not give up on him- It is still his redshirt freshman year and he can absolutely turn it around.

I hope I didn't come across as giving up on him. I am rooting for the young man to get back in the lineup and represent RU to the best of his ability.

I think Gravina will be at 197 and either Pagano or Grello at 184. The smaller of the two at 174.

Why do you think Gravina will go 197 when he has been 184 for the past 3 years?

I have no inside information but he looks like he has the size and strength to be a good sized 197 lbs. I have no idea what weight he walks around at but just speculation. Pagano and Scott look to small and Lightner having the year off going to Big 10 would probably be a mistake.

I don't see that with Gravina at all and I have no idea if he would even want to jump to 197.

I'd be shocked if Goodale doesn't try to get a transfer or JUCO at 197.

This probably depends on how they feel about Lightner, but I do tend to agree. Even if Mulligan is part of the plan next year, you are going to have to have someone else ready to go at this point.

As you know., Correnti came out of the gate unready to compete, but really improved as the season went on.
