Frankly, I think this really should not be an upset. Rutgers will win this one going away. Frankly, I don't know why Al is so pessimistic by calling this imminent win an upset!
While technically Rutgers is a 24 point underdog, when one looks at the facts objectively, we should be a big favorite. Here's why:
1) Talent: HC Chris Ash knows what it takes to win in the BiG and he learned from one of the world's best recruiters in Urban Meyer. Ash now has 3 years of recruits and 75% of this roster is composed of the type of players that he knows are needed to win a National Championship. The remaining 25% of the roster has been forged into National Championship shape by the Parker Plan.
2) Schemes: OC McNulty and DC Niehman have been playing with their gameplans the way a Cy Young pitcher plays with his pitches in spring training. Playtime is over. The coaching staff is ready to unleash a gameplan that is logistically and biometrically in tune with the lineups
3) We are due and it is once in a lifetime anomaly that we are not undefeated.
Play the Kansas game 100 times. We win 99 times. 90 of those wins are blowouts.
Play the Buffalo game 100 times. We win 99 times. 70 of those wins are blowouts.
Play the Ohio State game 100 times. We win 60 times. 30 of those wins are blowouts.
Play the Indiana game 100 times. We win 95 times. 70 of those wins are blowouts.
Play the Illinois game 100 times. We win 99 times. 70 of those wins are blowouts.
It is galatically bad "Slumdog Millionaire" luck that we lost any game besides the OSU game. We should be favored in this game v Maryland, a program that is imploding. We are supremely due.
Rutgers 45
Maryland 3
We'd score 70 if Ash kept a foot on the gas pedal for 60 minutes.
