- We have a Championship Caliber AD
- We have a Championship Caliber Football Coach
- By year 3, we'll either have Championship Caliber Assistants or they'll be replaced with Championship Caliber Assistants (Coaches on 2 year contracts)
- As long as it holds our 2017 recruiting class is as good as any; now need 4 more just like it
- Better facilities on the way

I can't help but smile when I think about our future. Sure, things suck now, but I firmly believe they're about to get a lot better.

I dont't know why "Living in America" from Rocky 2, I think just got stuck in my head.....son you need to walk before you run.......your mouth off.

Honestly anything is possible, so no refuting the title...timeline on the other hand...

I like Ash, but what is the basis of saying he is championship caliber....i'd love to see him win his first B1G game before we annoint him as championship caliber.

first we need to compete before we win football games..we are just starting to compete the last few weeks, which is a good sign...Both the Football coach and staff are learning on the job..the AD also, as first timers in these roles.we have a long long way to go ..

Yes there is. We are Rutgers. Just be happy for the times we are competitive.

There's no reason we can't eventually discover some missing piece of the physical universe puzzle that allows us to move from point A to point B in an instant even when the distance involved is hundreds of light years.

Eventually is a hell of a word.

actually we outgained Illini also..

Minnesota- 399 total net yards (rushing 243 - passing 156)
RU- 372 total net yards (rushing 150 - passing 222)

We did out score them over the last 3 quarters though. 29 to 13

We did out gain Iowa and Illinois however.

my bad..Gophers:we outgained them untill the last drive of game, they went down field to kick field goal and win game. Our linebackers are horrible, they cant cover anyone out of backfield and miss so many tackles...our run defense is very bad due to the lack of linebacker talent.

Until RU, NJ, and the SL embraces cheating we will never be a consistent top10 team.

Time will tell if you're right, but being optimistic isn't a crime

These delusional rants are always good for a laugh. I hope you post this on the main board and all the other teams in the conference.

Unfortunately your post is accurate which is why I always use the two words "WINNING CULTURE". Winning a NC involves elite athletes, a very experienced coaching staff and a University & State who wants to win. I wish Rutgers wins a NC one day but unless those things I mentioned become a reality we won't plain and simple. The current administration, state and residents know full well that their commitment to big time college football at Rutgers has a realistic ceiling, hence, the never ending frustration on this board. This weekend I got berated because I started a thread that said PSU beats OSU (Penn State is back!!). I tried to explain that I've always been a Rutgers fan first and wish nothing but the best for Rutgers, but im also a PSU fan. Is it fair to say I that PSU commitment to football is on par with Michigan and OSU?

The University wants to win. As a sign of its commitment, its poured well over 100 Million Dollars into the football program in the last 8 years. They fired Flood and are paying him into 2018. They brought on Chris Ash, who was the defensive coordinator for the National Champion Buckeyes. They hired an AD who gets it. They've raised $54 million dollars towards facility improvements. The only thing we're missing is a very experienced coaching staff, as this is a rebuild. By year 5 we'll have a very experienced coaching staff.

Butch Davis didn't cheat when he was building miami's national championship teams and Greg Schiano followed his methodology. Stamford doesn't cheat but they've had very successful seasons. It can be done.

Miami doesn't cheat. Lol. Guess you just missed AQM getting suspended. Miami's team right now is out of control. Free cars, clubs, blow, hookers, guns in the clubs. It's the Wild Wild West right now. Maybe Butch Davis was the only few year span they didn't. Doubtful. Stanford is possible the best school in the country and every top sure to athlete gives them a look. And they still aren't a perennial top 10 program.

And I'd never want the PSU culture. What was their motto "victory at all costs". Lol
I know people here don't want to accept it but we should gladly be Iowa.
For ever 10 years
Win 6-8: 8 of the 10
1 year win 9-10
1 year win 4-5

A dynamic QB can change things pretty drastically. That is the quickest short-cut to football prominence....I wouldn't say national championship, but Top 10 or Top 15. I think that is realistic if you have a kid like Lamar Jackson or someone in that ballpark that can keep a defense way off balance and put a lot of points on the board. A dynamic QB can cover up a lot of mistakes.

I think recruiting classes like the one Ash is putting together and a dynamic QB (and you never really know if you have one until they perform at this level) can move this program into a very different level. It may never happen, but I think they are trying to recruit the QBs that can do that...so you never know.

Is there no end to this?
We all know that if the stars somehow fully aligned one day, anything could happen. But, we are desperately looking to see if we can even win another game this season and we get this.

I met the players at the club when I was there, and my graduate student apartment was next to their dorms. Butch Davis ran a tight ship, and those players worked exceptionally hard for everything they got. I did not witness anything amiss. could someone have done a line or so. I suppose. but nothing was flagrant. Maybe things changed, as I would concede that you would know better than I as to how things are now.

Point is, we can do it here. Our 2006 team would have been a competitive Big Ten team. Our current team might have been competitive had we played the right qb from game 1. Without cheating, we got the
1,7,10,18,19,20,35,36,39,40,43 NJ recruits. Now we need four more classes like this one.

This season and next season doesn't matter. We'll be balling for real in season 3 and by season 5, we should hit our stride.

This is a RU board and optimistic posts, even if farfetched, should be welcome.
But that's only on this board and shouldn't be posted in another board until RU starts
showing going to the NC game isn't just a fantasy .
Delusional to a Nit is true, unwanted , by a lot of RU fans, overly optimistic post is also true.
But every once in a while , my opinion alone, it's nice to see someone posting an optimistic message about what Rutgers will do , instead of the usual messages telling each other why Rutgers won't become a top 25 program.

Keep it up Al, but keep it here :okay:

100 Million in 8 years is chump change.. that's cutting the grass and painting the parking lot at tOSU or Florida State.

your stadium is a problem.. it looks like a red barn.. you can expa
nd it but the base of the thing looks cheap.. it's like a fat chick dying her hair, it needs knocked down and rebuilt.. it's starting look like my old neighbors house who did 3 diff. additions.. PSU will spend $600-700 million to bring Beaver up to code, Michigan just spent $400 million.. once tOSU see's PSU they will probably spend $900 million. Your head coach is underpaid and his assistants are even more underpaid. You don't even have full BIG money yet? You are a commuter campus, tOSU is a bit of a commuter campus, but UM, PSU, Wisky, MSU, Purdue, IU, Nebraska, are pure college towns.

I watch RU and UMD games b/c I grew up watching PSU just ruin you ever week, and it's fun to watch you play the murderous schedule and see if you can do anything.

Ask your pharmacist to point you to the optimistic aisle.
I'm sure you'll find it there.
Need something stronger , have your Doctor write you out a prescription for Optimism
and not just settle for the over the counter feeling confident stuff found on the optimistic aisle in your local pharmacy.

A dynamic QB can change things pretty drastically..

Agreed.

QB apologists around here have been downplaying the poor quality of the QB play for a long time, making it seem almost irrelevant.

Gio starts one game and even Ash says his play changed everything, on and off the field, offense/defense, on the sidelines, the coaches, the atmosphere in the stands ....

So there's hope.
