There's NO Reason Why we can't eventually be Number ONE

Maybe play schedule that Maryland had this year.

Yea do you really think it was a bad idea to schedule UCF and FIU to recruit for two weeks in Florida for DJ Durkin who won "Recruiter of the year" while he was at Florida when we have twelve players already on the roster from Florida in his first year? DJ's all about winning and recruiting at the top.

I mean hell we could have picked a road gave vs. Washington for no reason. We both played Howard. You scheduled New Mexico, which I think is worse than UCF. When we scheduled UCF they had Bortles and were in a BCS bowl. We got some hell games coming up with OSU/UM but I'm not going to apologize for winning games in a talent rich state like Florida.

I'm just saying I want Maryland to win the B1G. However, we're both in the same boat in that we'd like to finish in the B1G East top three and make a decent bowl in consecutive years is a more realistic goal for the future.

If we land four straight classes like this where we are in top 15 recruiting, then yes I'll expect a top 15 finish. Our roster isn't that right now, and neither is yours for at least 5 years.

Sorry think your schedule was horrible and New mexico did beat Boise last year so they are not that bad.

100 Million in 8 years is chump change.. that's cutting the grass and painting the parking lot at tOSU or Florida State.

your stadium is a problem.. it looks like a red barn.. you can expa
nd it but the base of the thing looks cheap.. it's like a fat chick dying her hair, it needs knocked down and rebuilt.. it's starting look like my old neighbors house who did 3 diff. additions.. PSU will spend $600-700 million to bring Beaver up to code, Michigan just spent $400 million.. once tOSU see's PSU they will probably spend $900 million. Your head coach is underpaid and his assistants are even more underpaid. You don't even have full BIG money yet? You are a commuter campus, tOSU is a bit of a commuter campus, but UM, PSU, Wisky, MSU, Purdue, IU, Nebraska, are pure college towns.

I watch RU and UMD games b/c I grew up watching PSU just ruin you ever week, and it's fun to watch you play the murderous schedule and see if you can do anything.

You, sir, are an asshole.

- We have a Championship Caliber AD
- We have a Championship Caliber Football Coach
- By year 3, we'll either have Championship Caliber Assistants or they'll be replaced with Championship Caliber Assistants (Coaches on 2 year contracts)
- As long as it holds our 2017 recruiting class is as good as any; now need 4 more just like it
- Better facilities on the way

I can't help but smile when I think about our future. Sure, things suck now, but I firmly believe they're about to get a lot better.
I think we would be happy if we were 101

I think recruiting classes like the one Ash is putting together and a dynamic QB (and you never really know if you have one until they perform at this level) can move this program into a very different level.

Agreed. I hope everyone realizes that the three 4-star recruits committed to the 2017 recruiting class are more than any other class in the past decade except for 2012. In fact, other than 2012, RU has not had more than one 4-star recruit in any recruiting class of the past decade. If Ash keeps this up, there will be good times ahead.

Honestly, i missed Al's over-the-top, joy to the world, insanely and unrealistically optimistic OPs. Results on the field were getting me down. All better now.

There 2 reasons Al that it will never happen.
1. Ohio State
2. Michigan.

Look at the bright side. At least we got rid of Flood. Now we just need to get rid of the Foodies and Shift

I met the players at the club when I was there, and my graduate student apartment was next to their dorms. Butch Davis ran a tight ship, and those players worked exceptionally hard for everything they got. I did not witness anything amiss. could someone have done a line or so. I suppose. but nothing was flagrant. Maybe things changed, as I would concede that you would know better than I as to how things are now.

Point is, we can do it here. Our 2006 team would have been a competitive Big Ten team. Our current team might have been competitive had we played the right qb from game 1. Without cheating, we got the
1,7,10,18,19,20,35,36,39,40,43 NJ recruits. Now we need four more classes like this one.
Haha i cant believe no one else is commenting on the first couple sentences. So the proof that Butch Davis didnt cheat was Al being a student in a nearby dorm and sometimes attending the same club as some players. You may be right but this is perhaps the weakest proof i have ever seen.

And I'd never want the PSU culture. What was their motto "victory at all costs". Lol
I know people here don't want to accept it but we should gladly be Iowa.
For ever 10 years
Win 6-8: 8 of the 10
1 year win 9-10
1 year win 4-5
Because RU is in the middle of a much more fertile recruiting ground, if we could ever attain Iowa status, we would be poised to go beyond Iowa status.

They have a better foundation via their history, thus they are more likely to have solid seasons in the near future, but I think we have a higher ceiling. But as of now that is strictly untapped potential.

I keep hearing you guys say "if only we had Maryland's schedule" but no offense, you guys couldn't even beat Illinois at home. What makes you think that you automatically would have won at UCF (who looks pretty good under Frost this year) or against Purdue (who went to OT with Illinois?

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that we are some world beater, but is it entirely possibly that this just isn't your year? Regardless of schedule.

Minnesota who we played tough and you were blown out. I am somewhat being sarcastic, go back to your board. New mexico beat Boise last year is better than you think.

I think it's a no doubter that this is not our year.

Never once mentioned your schedule, but you know better. Last year is last year.

Good luck the rest of the season. I'll be at the RU-PSU game and will be wearing red.

And one other thing I can't wait to play Purdue at home next year. They will have new coaching staff and yes i believe we will beat them by at least two touchdowns.

That's the 5 to 7 year plan.

There's better football talent in NJ than in Ohio or Michigan. we just have to do a better job of attracting more of it, and a key part is getting hale center renovated/upgraded. Once John Lewis is up to speed, we'll have our chances.

This year and next year should be rebuilding years. Could we get lucky, yes. Year 3 of the Ash regime is where we should be competitive and I expect we will flourish by year 5.

Al now you are making sense. That is exactly the plan . Too many are getting caught up in years 1and 2.
