This is the RUWBB reaction to selection

It looks like Rachel was up and moving around, but I couldn't tell if she had a brace on her leg over the jeans. Any word on her or Essy's injuries from someone who was there?

gotta love CVS sarcasm LOL "The fact that throughout the year, with Seton Hall and Princeton being top 20 teams as they have been, it allows for all of us to revel in the fact that it's coming from the state of New Jersey,'' Stringer said. "I'm surprised Princeton isn't there quite frankly. Gee, it's too bad. That would've been real nice if we would've had Princeton, Seton Hall and Rutgers. We could've just had a formal regional invitational. Dag, that's too bad.''

I don't think any of us need the reporter describing the extent of sarcasm from CVS.

My reaction to the news RU is Dancing was one of Happiness.

The whole tournament is the UConn invitational. Well, at least should we get past Seton Hall, we have NOTHING to lose.

I was actually watching the evil empire, which I try never to do, and had a sinking feeling in my gut when they started the brackets showing UConn in Storrs. I thought to myself - this is not gonna be good. And just seconds later, they flashed up the 8/9 game and there we were.

That was enough evil empire for me - so I reached for the remote and switched over to re-runs of CSI Miami or something more entertaining like that.

No one can convince me that the NCAA women's selection committee doesn't have it in for CVS and her program. And, of course, since it's all gonna be televised on the e.e., one must wonder how much influence they exerted over the selections and placements of teams and how much they're still trying to screw RU for Pernetti's role in the BE rejection of the e.e.'s lowball offer for the renewal of the TV contract.

I don't see it as an RU Screw as much as a TV ratings grab.

Since UConn is a 1 with SHU and RU qualifying as an 9 and 8 it allows them to create this matchup.

SHU vs RU generates NJ interest and can help sell a few tickets at Storrs.

RU vs UConn is the matchup they wanted. RU has upset UConn a few times over the years when the 2 were in the BE. UConn may have their hands full with RU, The other 8 / 9 games have Minny vs DePaul, Cuse vs Nebraska, and Princeton vs Green Bay.

S Carolina, Maryland, and Notre Dame are the other 1's.

Rutgers couldn't be in the Maryland bracket for a 2nd round matchup since both are in the B10. I guess they could have swapped us with Cuse so we could play S Carolina in the 2nd round but that would also mean moving Nebraska since we can't match up with them in the 1st round. In the ND bracket They could have possibly swapped us with Minny (both B10 teams).

Either way this is set up to sell seats and generate interest.
Do I care more if RU plays DePaul or SHU? Yes, I care more about a SHU match up. In the 2nd round I will care more if we play UConn instead of S Carolina or Notre Dame.

Add to it that we didn't play SHU or UConn this year while playing them a lot in the past adds further interest.

here is the Seton Hall reaction to the selection in the link

are they jacked up to play Rutgers or not....lol.

But let me tell you....even though our girls do not have experience in the NCAA just like SHU, they do have that NIT run to fall back on as well as the coaching staff years of experience with CVS and the tourney experience that Pointer, Newton and Edwards bring to the table. Do not discount this

SHU may be totally motivated and come into the game with piss and vinegar but by seeing that reaction, seeing their player quotes and hearing what their coach said, me thinks that perhaps Seton Hall may end up psyching themselves out in this game, treating a game like a revenge deathmatch may backfire on them. I think that could have them lose their focus a little.

If we have Essie and Rachel back I think we take this...if its just Essie I think we win too, she is the key. If both are out, I just do not think we have enough depth

seton hall

not much has been said but I guess both she and Rachel are suffering some sort of knee injury. A quote from CVS in one of the stories says she hopes that one or both can play but they are day to day and have not practiced

Obviously both are huge losses and completely change our capabilities on the defensive end. That being said, this quote from the SHU coach should be hung up and posted all over the RU locker room:

" It's payback time for Rutgers!"

I am pumped for RU-Shoe. I have a feeling both teams will leave everything on the floor knowing the next team is nearly impossible to beat. The question is - who will UConn fans root for?

I sadly think we are one and done with theses injuries and the way we hobbled to the finish line to end the season.
