Greg will get top notch transfer portal players that can make an immediate difference to listen. They will listen because he is a top coach great recruiter and we have glaring needs in the offensive lines and defensive lines. Greg will need NIL money to get these guys to come here. I don’t want to hear boo when once again we strike out for lack of funds. NIL is here to stay whether we like it or not.

Weren't we supposed to have depth? Now we have glaring needs in the trenches?

There was one game where we were physically overmatched, Wisconsin. We lost two other games by close scores.
Nebraska's DL mauled RU's OL all day, and their OL pushed RU around. They weren't exactly a wall of granite against VT, Washington, or UCLA, either.

Not true. #72 handled his man just fine. The left guard and right tackle struggled because they had particularly difficult matchups. Nevertheless, the point differential was due to our WR dropping a TD pass. Unrealistic to expect us to win every single matchup in every game. We were good enough in every game save Wisconsin. Taj White is exponentially better than he was in the Nebraska game, and is on his way. We just have to keep getting better.

What depth, that was an illusion created in a look at me thread by our resident Don Quixote.

56 of the team's scholarships are tied up with Freshman or Sophomores. It's in the scholarship chart pinned at the top of this forum. Strongly suggest people use it on a regular basis to be more informed.

Unfortunately, the 2021 & 2022 classes have been awful & potentially awful, respectively, in terms of producing productive players and a number of them (especially from 2021) are gone altogether.

The mounting injuries have exposed all this since many of the replacements don't have experience or much experience. You can't be depth if you've never played or produced positive outcomes.

It's unfortunate that last year was relatively healthy and this year is the opposite.

It's not depth if it's lacking experience. Only you would be STUPID enough to equate the two.

Production >>>>> Star Ratings

Depth is depth. Our guys are good enough to spell the starters but not good enough to be full time starters, yet here we are, and we have to live with their mistakes till they adequately develop.

very few teams out there have quality depth, where a backup would 100% replace the productivity of the starter. Our backups who are currently starting, are going through a learning curve, and are not playing with the same proficiency as the starters

Keep lying to yourself dude, just like this was the greatest roster ever assembled. You delusional threads are a disservice to the fan base.

This off season will only lead to a very OFf ON season. We are fsns of s team of a school that had Never had a string of good teams Ever. RU is not capable of c
Having a winning FB. Program. At least I have not see it happen starting in 1846. Root your hearts out if you will but I have had more than enough of my share of bad teams and I gladly leave my share of them to everyone else. One never knows but perhaps I have been the Jinx all along and never knew it

Don't even think about getting into the "I can't take it with me mode".. we want a 100-year-old fan birthday celebration for you.. next year isn't it? November.. is it on a Rutgers anniversary like the 6th (1869 game) or 10th (Charter signing).

About your later realistic/pessimistic post... we never really prioritized college sports as a university or a state. Sure, the few sports fans among the hordes of alums would love it.. but it is just not the same world as those state universities who are leaders in sports. Indiana.. the state and school.. is synonymous with basketball. They have a lot invested in basketball. That sports mindset has likely paid huge dividends in all things IU. And now they could leverage that investment and apply it to football because it is legal to buy enough players who can make a difference. Alabama did it the other way... used football money to fund a now-great basketball team.

And, I'm sure, a lot of these big donations come from local businesses for whom having that relationship earns them money.

New Jersey is just not set up for that sort of investment in the State U's sports teams.

It can go that way.. that CAN be developed. But with pro sports teams all over the place here, and no local TV networks that can be leveraged.. we have to WIN first. Or find a bunch of sugar-daddies somehow.

We are in a tough spot.. but as long as fans recognize that and not punish Rutgers because of things beyond its control.. we can do small improvements over a longer period of time and hopefully we get close enough where back-to-back great seasons get us bumped to teh next level.. in the minds of New Jersey fans and businesses.. and we get close to what other State Us have.
