Tia Jackson added to Duke Coaching Staff

Congrats Tia , your knowledge and experience will be a much needed asset in helping Kara navigate the HC position in her first year as one.

She is setting up a strong staff, already picked up Beth Cunningham who had been at ND with Muffet, also coached at VCU as head coach a while back. And Tia has the head coach experience as well, from her Washington days, although she wasn't particularly successful.

Unsucessful head coaches can help a new on by sharing their experiences as a HC so the first timer can avoid some of the pitfalls new HCs can make without a mentor on the staff.
Sounds like Kara is making sure she has the type of assistants that will help her OJT and have a better chance to be successful as Duke's HC

I thought it was a decent mention - pointed out the Rutgers success during her years as assistant. What they skimped on (understandably) was her head coaching career, which was not a success; conversely they highlighted Cunningham's, which was successful.

Surprised they didn't mention that she played for Vivian.

I wonder if Kara’s name recognition (visibility on ESPN) helps Duke with recruiting?
