The day after Maryland game Ash needs to make decisions on every player in the system on whether they deserve to play at this level, or if it would be better if they transfer out and play at a level like Lehigh or Stony Brook.

That's basically what he is doing. But you can't cut the team.

This is college football. You can control the roster, but in limited way. The only real way is recruiting.

It's a 5 year rebuild. Minimum.

Don't you mean maximum? He won't get a new contract if he doesn't turn it around.

Flushout all of Flood's recruits or only those who are underperforming or who in someone's opinion will never see the field, even if this is because they are limited by injury? Great message to give to potential recruits.

Overt few fifth years guys are coming back.

Sometimes the truth hurts folks. Playing hard and putting it all on the line only gets a program so far. Many of our players are NOT D1 players.
Exactly. And that is why Ash needs to sit down and evaluate each player in the off-season to weed out the players who have no business playing at this level.

Before you weed out the other coaches players, you need replacements, and those players
should be weeded out after a half a year also? You make it sound like it is all on Flood
that is not right. You know Ash is not the first coach that took over
a team low on talent. Most do if the team is a team that fired it's
head coach.. Look at the roster of the team Shea took over from Graber
It was devoid of any talent at all. So let's not waste any more time
blaming everything on the previous coach. Ash knows what he got
himself into more and more each game. He knows or should know
he has a lot to learn himself.

I'm not sure how you accomplish what the OP is suggesting. If we flush players out, we have to replace them with someone else.

Only way to do this is by recruiting, one class at a time.

He was one of the first guys to be Knighted this year.

I guess that says a lot about our roster.

To me that says he is a hard working kid - which I don't question - who can't tackle to save his life

Over half the current roster will have used up their eligibility after next season.

And maybe we should consider that this a new type of tackling,
and it is not the players fault, maybe these inexperienced kids,
are being asked to do too much too soon. Maybe more experienced
coaches would have done better. With that being said, what about the new
coaches that struggled with N.D. Ohio State, Mich, Alabama, Texas and so on.
If they struggled with the taking over of very traditionally strong programs,
maybe we should be giving a break to the players and coaches of Rutgers.
Maybe, this comment about him not being able to tackle to save his life is unfair?

So expecting that a player can make a basic open field tackle - a key fundamental that they have been working on every day since they were 9 years old - is asking too much? And he is a senior so give me a break about experience being an issue. I appreciate his work ethic and he seems like a good kid. But I am tired of watching him miss tackle after tackle because he fails to wrap up.

My only problem is everyone who thinks it's ok to trash players but take offense to people trashing the coaches.
No I agree with you there...I think everyone is fair game as far the coaches are concerned. Whether it is lack of experience or lack of competency is TBD.
