I am glad to see Todd Frazier join the Yankees as well as the return of David Robertson who was always one of my favorites. It is nice to have a Rutgers guy on the Yanks.

. In all fairness, as great a player as he was at Rutgers, he struck out a fair amount even then.He was a better hitter at Rutgers. They have turned him into a swinger. Swings for the fences, strikes out 150 or more & hits in low .200's. Told him they would try to do that to him & to resist it if he could.
I don't recall that he did.. In all fairness, as great a player as he was at Rutgers, he struck out a fair amount even then.
The links to the archived statistics on the baseball site are down right now. But take a look later, you will see that that he did strike out significantly more than you would expect of someone that could hit .366 with 22 homeruns in a college season.I don't recall that he did.
Nothing like now. He was a much different hitter. Hit the ball to all fields with power. He has a longer swing now & tries to pull much more. As a result many, many K's.The links to the archived statistics on the baseball site are down right now. I was able to look at the numbers. For his professional career, he has struck out 24% of the time. For his last year of college, by far his best hitting year, he struck out about 21% of the time. I think it is fair to attribute that additional 3% to the upgrade in pitching.Nothing like now. He was a much different hitter. Hit the ball to all fields with power.
