I am glad to see Todd Frazier join the Yankees as well as the return of David Robertson who was always one of my favorites. It is nice to have a Rutgers guy on the Yanks.

He was a better hitter at Rutgers. They have turned him into a swinger. Swings for the fences, strikes out 150 or more & hits in low .200's. Told him they would try to do that to him & to resist it if he could.

Superpsyched to see him in a Yankees uniform. It'll be interesting to see what type of contract he gets heading into next year. I think it's safe to say it'll largely be determined by how he performs the rest of this season.

Get to see him once in a while when they do Frazier tournaments in Toms River for my kids travel baseball teams. Pretty cool to now see him playing for the Yanks and my kids have pics with him.

. In all fairness, as great a player as he was at Rutgers, he struck out a fair amount even then.

I don't recall that he did.
The links to the archived statistics on the baseball site are down right now. But take a look later, you will see that that he did strike out significantly more than you would expect of someone that could hit .366 with 22 homeruns in a college season.

Nothing like now. He was a much different hitter. Hit the ball to all fields with power. He has a longer swing now & tries to pull much more. As a result many, many K's.

He doesn't appear to be an upgrade at third base for the Yankees.

He should go back to his old style of hitting, which if successful, would benefit him as a free agent.

I was able to look at the numbers. For his professional career, he has struck out 24% of the time. For his last year of college, by far his best hitting year, he struck out about 21% of the time. I think it is fair to attribute that additional 3% to the upgrade in pitching.
