Football Tracking the 2024 Rutgers Football TV Ratings -- Week 11

avg of 1.05mm per game this year and without OSU, PSU, and Michigan on the schedule! Hot dam RU looking good with the eyeballs. If we can pull 1mm for each of the next two games (assuming bowl game is a given with at least 1mm (if we go to a bowl) then RU has a great shot at moving into the top 40 watched teams. That is simply outstanding

Last year we had better tv ratings than 11 ACC schools, most of the B12 and some SEC schools (which benefit by their 8 game schedule).

We are 4th to the worst in the Big Ten. Just saying.

You’ve been pretty complimentary all season about the ratings, but they’re truthfully nothing to write home about.

Not terrible, not but certainly nothing great.

There just meh..and not certainly not something that is gonna stand out to network execs…

you guys are looking at this in a vacuum. My numbers posted in that link are actually the worst numbers posted where one outlet has us 11th in the BIG/40th overall and in the most expensive DMA

regardless, last years' numbers where we were coming off a shitty year and no one expected anything yet still put up respectable numbers higher than many other established programs. This year, the numbers will be higher and as a better measure of Rutgers eyeballs given we played none of the heavyweights. Give us a decent bowl against a good opponent and we're going to surprise. As for your comment on network execs, I can't speak to that but have a friend that sells add space for networks and he says the opposite of your view. Don't forget that our numbers are generated mostly in a wealthy DMA and ad rates take that into account. it's not 1:1 but no need to explain this again. You can look back on my past posts from last year on that.

You cannot look at the average of cable vs network... network games generally have the same exposure.. same possible population who might tune in.. cable games not so much. Then you have opponent's contribution and games you are put up against. Then you have time slots. Of course, It is complicated to try to arrive at an idea as to whether we do well... because "well" is compared to.. what exactly?

All we need know is that the experts evaluated us when we were back in the Big East and AAC and decided our market pull is good enough for the Big Ten.

Bottom line: We are of local interest only. This describes the vast majority of P4 programs. Example: why was Nebraska invited? Not AAU. Not a consecutive state... oh.. Iowa to its east. A football program with a great history.. great name.. a name of interest to Big Ten fans as well as nationally... at least when they were invited they did. If they don't hook a new generation that could be over and then we'll just have a small market program in a flyover state. I am NOT rooting for that.. Huskers are a class outfit IMHO.

I mention this stuff to show that Nebraska's ratings will be higher. People recognize the name.. still.

When we do have a great season, people will tune in.

1.2M vs Minnesota does not suck. Up against Florida-Texas, Miami-GTech. That's 2 games and 3 teams with national followings. We did good.

So every game ahead of us featured one or more top 25 teams except the Friday night Iowa vs UCLA game, which had no split audience. We were on at the same time as top 5 brands Ohio State and Texas. What do you expect? It's a good rating in that scenario.

as I said in another thread, some of our fans would criticize Mother Theresa for the way she poured soup for the poor.
