Not to let the bipartisan cooperation of our State's political class off the hook for what they have done here, but this opinion piece points to a larger, long lasting, trend to cut support ...Originally posted by rufancoe00:
2. Blame the state for high state school tuition.
Some students and parents, for better or worse, prefer smaller colleges, even those that do not have Rutgers' lustre. I have two colleagues who could have sent their kids to Rutgers free, but felt the kids would be better off at Union or Kean. Some kids just aren't cut out for the size and complexity of New Brunswick/Piscataway.Originally posted by Leonard23:

Wow talk about being way off. Just because people prefer a smaller college environment doesn't mean they expect to be sheltered in Mayberry all their life. Some people prefer smaller colleges for many entirely legitimate reasons.Originally posted by derleider:

What you meant to say is they want to be coddled a little while longer and are willing to pay lots of money for it.
Also - everyone knows that no one pays sticker for these colleges.
Well depending on your major, you can get a lot of that at one of the schools at Rutgers. It's only as big OR small as you make it.Originally posted by Scarlet Pride:
