A joy to watch. When they need them in Q4 their stars earn their pay..I don't have a horse in this race but I just don't like coaches named after pastries.. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Agree with you Doctor Worm, and playing in that lousy conference can't help.

Always good when UCONN loses.
I am a long time RU seasons ticket holder. Never understood how “hating on UConn” gets RU into the Top 20? RU needs to recreate an environment that draws top recruits. It seems like ages since we were in the hunt.

watching the national championship game, its clear that Rutgers is miles away from competing at the top level at this point under its current circumstances

One of the things that Rutgers lacks is an uber talent. As you might have noticed in some other threads, I am now located in Tucson and follow U of A, which just won the WNIT.

U of A won 6 games last year. And no, they are not (yet) a team that would or could have made much of an NCAA run. But what they do have is -

- A very talented transfer, Ari McDonald, from Washington (originally recruited there by our head coach). Huge talent, I believe 3rd in the nation in scoring, honorable mention all-American (on a team that had like 18 wins in the regular season and an OOC schedule that had to rank as one of the worst in the land). But also a team that went to the last second or overtime against several of the top PAC teams, and even pulled an upset or 2.

- A McDonald's High School All-American named Cate Reese, played very well for a freshman. Picked up the slack when Ari was having a bad day.

- 2 very determined seniors (one will be back, she was eligibility wise a JR but was going to hang it up due to nagging knee issues but got so enthused with the team that she tweeted (before the WNIT) that we were not rid of her yet, she would be back next year) making up for the miserable seasons they suffered through during Niya Butt's last season and Adia's first 2 years

- A team that developed throughout the year, was much better at the end than the beginning and whose players 100% bought into HC Adia Barnes system.

At Rutgers, I just don't see the talent that stands out from the players around them. Rutgers has much better players than they did for a while, but I really struggle to think of one or two players that could take over a game when needed. The teams in the NCAA championship each have multiple players that could do that.
