Unconfirmed rumor Schiano on the clock

Please let this be true. At the very least, would love to see what Greg can do with the B1G name.

I don't think most coaches would come back... if Greg does, it means he really loves Rutgers, and wants to see us complete the goals he set out to accomplish. That's pretty admirable, and a lot of fanbase will get behind that.

Guy would destroy Franklin in recruiting. "Yeah, how many kids has Franklin sent to the NFL? Yeah, you're signing Rutgers."

There was a post recently indicating that Schiano did not want to come back due to Herman's presence… Her departure may change that equation.

Excellent!!!!

we better be careful of short term decisions which look good at the expense of the longer terms. We do this repeatedly

Interestingly Greg Brown is on Chris Christie's campaign team. I'm guessing he must have the Gov's ear, and possibly blessing on how things go w RU.

Yeah, Rutgers never does well when factions co-opt the process. It goes all the way to firing Mulcahy, then Waters, then Pernetti, and then the subsequent hires of their successors.

Bringing in Dean Hobbs, and outsider, and who transitioned things at Seton Hall athletics, may be a smart move. He also got his law degree from UNC, the bastion of NCAA compliance.

No offense to Greg Brown and a few of the other so called big donors. Just wonder how many have any real football knowledge of football. They may be good in the business world but that doesn't move the football or win games. Maybe Barchi should have also consulted someone the people I know and suggested for blue ribbon committee to advise on athletics and football in particular.

This included former outstanding players with great management and business skills..Alex Kroll, Bill Austin, Gene Renna (president of Mobile Oil, VP at ExxonMobil) , General Bob Kelly (former superintendent of the Air Force Academy) all of whom played football at Rutgers. Add in David Stern with Brown and perhaps you might have some solid and realistic input for Barchi to consider. #1 is to forget about anything related to what they might bring to the table as far as $$ commitments, it's their management and athletic backgrounds and knowledge that is important. I know half of these people were never invited to help.

But again typical Rutgers foolishness because they might not like to hear what needs to be said but I am willing to bet that this group if convened would have come up with some positive input and a meaningful plan both for athletics and public relations. Alex Kroll was the top person at Y&R one of the leading advertising and public relations firms in the world. And Renna handled one of the major large corporation mergers and Kelly was a no nonsense person at the Air Force Academy.

It's still never too late yhe gorge a plan that just might work because the plan bstvhinhas on the table surely isn't it shows no promise of success.

OK so the old uniforms yesterday were a sign Schiano was back in both roles, HC and AD, today MrsScrew was doing some re-arranging and we found our Schiano Bobblehead in a box we were moving.

Coincidence? I think not.
The old uniforms were chosen by the seniors per Carlin on radio.

I believe this just because Greg Brown seems to be orchestrating this entire process.

Please god anyone else. I mean am I taking crazy pills here? What the hell did he ever win????

His support staff hated him (many past coordinators and assistants said he was just insufferable to work with), he never made half time adjustments....and again, what the hell did he ever win? Never beat WVU his entire stint here. Seriously what hell are people smoking to think he is going to come back and all of a sudden be a different person? I just dont get it.

Could anyone provide a shred of evidence to suggest he would make us a top tier B1G team, we were never even a top tier Big East team?
You do realize people do change. Especially when they hit rock bottom. Being fired from your head coaching position is considered hitting rock bottom in the coaching profession. If the things written about him lately are true he has learned from past mistakes and has changed some of his ways. I would say from day 1 with the B1G conference to sell we would see a huge up tick in recruiting. And if he has truly changed his ways he will hire a more than competent OC and allow him to run the show. We know what we're getting on defense and his special teams well they were quite special. The only thing that really held us back during his latter years was our offense. If he has truly changed we could do a lot worse but still better than what we've had.

His house was sold.
I am not in love with schiano coming back , but given where we are as a program I don't hate it either . He will make us respectable .
Sorry but I am looking for much more than respectability and I hope others are too.

I don't necessarily want Schiano back but Tom Coughlin is an example of a coach changing.

How's Schiano going to schedule cupcakes if we have to play 9 Big Ten teams each season starting next season?

Coughlin is leading the Giants to a 20-13 loss against Washington today with 4 minutes to go in the game. Its time for him to retire.

it was 20-0 a few minutes ago. ODB just make another incredible catch, this one for a TD. game isn't over yet.

Keep Schiano away from Rutgers. He's an average to below average coach and Rutgers has direct experience.

College football's KING of Soft and Easy OOC schedules
28-48 in the Big East
12 years on Rutgers payroll
68-67 overall record
ZERO BCS games
ZERO conference championships
His 'defense' gave up 69 points to Cincinnati in 2010

Fired after two seasons at TB for being a below average coach there.

Let Schiano coach at a program that matches his ability... Monmouth College, Widener University, etc.
