As the wrestling season is about to kickoff there are three big things happening inside the Rutgers Wrestling program within the next two weeks. Tomorrow night Coach Goodale will be doing a live radio show at Quaker Steak & Lube which is located at 561 Route 1, Edison, NJ 08817. For more information or to make a reservation, call 732-777-WING (9464). Beginning at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, Coach Goodale will discuss the historic Battle at the Birthplace match at High Point Solutions Stadium on November 19th at 11 AM against Princeton, and speak about our team as we enter year three in the Big Ten Conference.
This Saturday we are hosting an open practice at College Avenue Gymnasium. The practice is open to all family, friends and supporters of Rutgers Wrestling. We encourage all high school coaches and fans of New Jersey wrestling to please be in attendance. You will get an inside look at our program before we head into competition the following weekend. The season is less than two weeks away and our team is anxious to wrestle some different opponents. On November 6th, the East Stroudsburg Open will be used as our ranking event to set our depth chart and lineup moving into the season. This year we decided to use this open event in place of an intra-squad match. We have a much deeper room than in the past so it is important to grade our wrestlers on how they perform against outside competition before determining our starting ten.
And finally Anthony Ashnault has been invited to compete in the 51st Annual National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic in Cleveland, Ohio on November 5th. Anthony continues to be a pioneer for our program as he is the first Rutgers wrestler to receive an invite to the prestigious All-Star Meet. Anthony will square off against 2016 NCAA runner-up Bryce Meredith from Wyoming.

Thanks for your continued support of Rutgers Wrestling and please reply to me with email addresses of any other individuals that you think would like to receive this update.

I hope you all had a chance to show up and watch the open practice. Coaches put the boys through their drills and all but a few kids missed due to classes. As I said on the Round Table, the kids had to be within 2 pounds of the weight they will wrestle on Nov 6 at the ESU Open. That means Dippery was at 135 and Correnti was at 199. It should be an interesting tournament. Coaches Goodale and Pritzlaff will be in Cleveland the night before for Anthony Ashnault's match and then drive to ESU to make that tournament. A wonderful tailgate feast was prepared in the parking lot by the Ashanults after practice. What a spread!
