This is the best video I’ve seen on the greatest game ever, the 1978 Holiday Classic Championship 3OT win over Ohio State. And number 1 ranked Duke finished 4th in the tournament.

Finally get to see good footage of that 1982 WVU game. Great memories of that one.

The entire game is on You Tube

Love it! Thanks Tango!

I think you’re correct. Don’t think there was much missing though.
I was at the game and the last seconds of the first overtime (I think it was the first) when Strickland hit the 2 foul shots and then Anderson stole the pass for the layup to tie the game were crazy insane. We were going absolutely nuts. I think that part is missing from the YouTube so it was great to see it again. That was an awesome tournament!

Anderson's foot was out of bounds. Glad the refs didn't see it!

This is great stuff!
I did the play-by-play for that 1980 Villanova game where Sparrow hit the game winner at the Palestra for WRSU. Strange seeing it after all these years.
Did the 1979 Drexel game (Hinson's debut)
Did the 1980 LIU game at the Garden, too.

Some of the non-Rutgers sports highlights were cool too. Nets games with Eddie Jordan playing with Phil Jackson and Super John Williamson. Eddie with the Nets and Hollis Copeland with the Knicks playing a preseason game in what looked like a middle school cafeteria.

Wow, it was. Only 2 refs back then. Amazing we were down 4 with 18 seconds left, take it down court, Strickland hits the 2 free throws at 8 seconds, Anderson makes the steal and ties it at the buzzer. Along with the 4 point play against Villanova years later that is the most exciting sequence in RU hoops history.

I think we were down 4 with 15 seconds left and the clock didn't stop at that time in the last minute of a game after a made basket. I was there on both nights and will remember it forever. I took a little movie film with my no sound little 8 mm movie camera at MSG that night but it is relatively poor.

Tango, Those are all so impressive. Is there any highlights from the ECAC game with St. John's from March 6, 1976 at MSG when Phil Sellers and Beaver Smith went head to head in the last few minutes and RU won 70-67 ? I know that the BIG Ten video of RU's 76 season has a few seconds of that game so someone must have a video of that game. I always have hoped I could get a video of that game as well as the 1979 NCAA Regional game vs St. John's at Greensboro which I attended and you do show the end of that game here. I also attended our loss to St. john's 65-56 in the NCAA in Hartford on March 20, 1983 when Chris Mullin couldn't miss. I have never seen that one as well.

I did a search looking for something on that 1983 St. John's NCAA game and found a report from a couple days later. Just one video highlight of Chris Mullin driving baseline and shooting over Roy Hinson. Interviewed Tom Young in his office and he said if they played St. John's 10 times he thought RU would win 4 of them.

Yeah and checking out the news of the time is pretty cool too. Can't get enough of these archives.

The TV announcer said OSU scored with 18 seconds left to take the 4 point lead. No 3 point play option back then either. We were sitting right under the OSU basket. Best basketball game I’ve ever attended.

Thanks, Tango!! I broadcasted the triple OT game for WRSU. Since they stuck us up where the green and blue seats met, this video is the best angle I have ever seen that game!!
