Very solid win - now we need CONSISTENCY offensively

We do score, against teams that are terrible defensively like Wake. You notice that Spencer was on today, that's because he had no one up in his grill all game.
Not true. We ran some plays for him when he drilled one from 3 feet point land and a two point shot where the defender was up in his grill. This is what I hoped to see from Cam and expect this in B1G play.

Agree - Wake is horrendous defensively. Not taking much from this game except we needed this win after the past 2 Twilight Zone games we were in. When we do this against a quality team, then lets talk - aside from that today was like playing against one of our doormat opponents.

Wake isn't a doormat. That's kinda ridiculous. They haven't played a whole lot of good teams yet, but did beat Wisconsin in Madison. Will probably make Tournament.

Spencer scored 15 points and did not miss a shot from the field or the foul line.He needs to take more shots for Rutgers to score more than 70 points.
He only played 20 minutes. Not sure why Simpson got 26 when Spencer was perfect, and he would have had 18 if not for the BS charge call where the shot fell, the defender's foot was still in the air when contact was made.

foul trouble in first half....I think he sat the last 12 minutes except for our last offensive possession.

Derek was very good in his time too and that was needed to get him more minutes

OK if fouls were the concern but a bit of an overreaction by Pike as Spencer finished the game with two fouls and I don't consider him a foul prone player. Regarding playing time, really wish Reiber and Miller could have gotten more time in a blowout, I was quite surprised when Mulcahy went back in end game after bashing his face on the opponent's knee with about 5 minutes left.

They played like a doormat today - they were terrible on both sides of the ball (other than 3 point shooting). Wake narrowly beat Utah Valley (Ken Pom 120) and Appalachain State (208), and then also lost to Loyola Marymount (119). I'm not seeing the team we saw today coming anywhere close to sniffing the tourney - they will get obliterated in ACC play. I stand by what I said - there is very little to take from this game today - we did what we were supposed to do and beat an overmatched team.

Agree. Not impressed with Wake.

Cam needs to be more aggressive. He's the one player who never forces anything offensively but the one player I'd excuse a bit for trying to force it a bit

I don't see Wake making the tournament but doormat is a little harsh. They are worse than 12/14 Big Ten teams though.

You are really a lousy evaluator of basketball teams and basketball talent. We imposed our will on a team with our toughness . Go listen to their coach post game. Not the first time has mentioned our toughness . You have the gall to belittle our great team effort and blowout win today that we were up by 15 most of the game . They are 8-3 not 3-8. They beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin something we have done only once last year. You are a clueless fool.

Really, they play no defense, have no inside game, and only have 2 decent players, plus they appear soft. They chuck up a lot of 3's, on a night when they are on fire they could upset someone, other than that they stink. They lost to loyola MD and pulled out a miracle against App St.

I’ve been shouting about this for years. At some point the analytics guys will prove that coaches are waaaaay too conservative with protecting players from foul trouble.

You know next to nothing about basketball. Just give it up. They have 2 really good guards , one who played hurt yesterday and we made him work for everything. They have the best 3 we have seen this year who shot lights out especially from 3 , their 4 is huge , skilled and can put it on the floor and has a sweet shot. They have size but a lousy 5 position which looks like their major weakness. They also seem to have a limited bench. They are 8-3 not 3-8 . You saying they stink is idiotic but also minimizes our outstanding effort offensively and defensively. Which is typical of the crap you have spewed about our team. Go root for another team so they can call you out for your clueless takes.

If you think that Wake is a quality team you are the one that's clueless.

Not only are they clueless - it sounds like they are off their meds. Nobody said Rutgers didn’t play well - all that was said was Wake was not a good team and they threw a 5 year old temper tantrum. Little crazy.

Again, define "good" or "quality" team. With my definitions people saying Wake is "good" are wrong and people saying Wake "sucks" are also wrong. But it's hard to have a meaningful discussion without defining the words.

Man that’s tough - I love the way Cam plays. He plays within himself and has a really high basketball IQ. I get where you’re coming from because we are starving for offense but I just don’t think it would be pretty if Cam stated forcing some shots. It’s not his game, and I don’t think it would be successful.

I think what you’re saying is fair - but the the Wake team we saw yesterday was a bad team. Are they capable of playing better than they did yesterday? I’m guessing they are. They shot near 50% from 3 the whole game and 40% from the floor - so not at all a horrible game statistically from them. That being said it was never a close game and it seemed like we were able to do whatever we wanted to do offensively without much resistance. They also seemed careless and nonchalant on offense - which against our defense is going to spell trouble. I honestly felt like they gave us as much resistance as the cupcakes we have faced - where our team is just a step above and wasn’t competitive.

They aren’t great, but I also think they played badly for them and it’s not a good matchup for them either.

@Greene Rice FIG has been pointing this out a lot, but putting pressure on us like Seton Hall did is clearly the key to making our offense look terrible. They do none of that. They also seem to be good shooters/scorers but not so good with the ball handling and that is awful against a team like Rutgers that is putting huge pressure on the ball. Against even a good defensive team that doesn’t pressure like that I bet they look a lot better offensively.

Everything has to be black and white on the board. As fans of Rutgers we should all know that teams can be inconsistent. We needed a great performance from our guys and we got one. Like our loss at osu, it’s a loss, and this is a blowout win against a decent team. We’re all pro wake now!

My wife is a Wake alum, so I follow them relatively closely. They're talented and miles better than they were under Manning. I think Forbes is a pretty good coach. I don't think they're good yet, but they will be. They remind me of RU in year 3 of Pikiell. You can see some of the pieces clicking (they won in Wisconsin), but they aren't all the way yet. Will be a decent win on our schedule, but nothing earth shattering.

It used to be (1970’s, maybe into the ’80’s) that a guy didn’t get pulled in the first half until the 3rd foul.

Yep, then it became prevent him from getting his third in the first period...

True but your last sentence is a little nonchalant. It is not the win over Wake that is earth shattering it is the 24 point win with a dominant 10-15 point lead throughout that is impressive. They are not a ranked team but they have some pieces that will win some games against the top of the ACC this year.
