Veteran Core Key To Progress

The change Deshawn Freeman has made on the banks. Came here as a quiet kid, now he is a leader.

What a great story. Awesome for him. Mike Williams leads by action- best leader there is. Both awesome stories.

I haven't seen anyone on a college court consistently put out the hustle and effort Mike Williams displayed last season. It was insane ! Sometimes he'd literally just out hustle an entire pack of 6'8" + guys for multiple rebounds and put backs. The kind of stuff that fires a team and crowd up!

Imagine if we could get a "big" with that effort. I know 6'6" is not a "big" in basketball, but I would love to see Eugene give that total effort Mike gives. With his wing span and strength he could add a lot to a team.

Team first.

I could see it. Him, or Mensah. Omoyuri is candidate #1.Someone has to fill Williams role. It will not be just anybody..

Let's put it this way....Eugene has learned A TON about the game and how it should be played from Mike Williams this offseason. It will definitely show on the floor this season

I LOVE hearing this !! That is EXACTLY what this program has been missing for years. That is, senior leadership being around to show the new guys how its done (work ethic, effort, decision making, how to run the offense, defensive effort). And especially seniors that have had to work their way up through the lineup and were at RU the entire time.

Mike Williams is a combination of Joe Dumars and Jon Stockton on the little tough guy scale.I love that guy.

I hope this year Williams finds his stroke from 3. It would be much deserved. Love the hustle but I expected more out of him in terms of offense especially 3 point shooting

I take another Rashad Kent type player on the court. (Minus the off field issues of course.)
