Football VIDEO: Greg Schiano talks Penn State postgame

Program building is over. We are playing a game that no one else is now.

I wish the reporters would ask more specific questions (such as "what was the breakdown on the return?") rather than letting GS talk in generalities about how "we're getting there."

One thing is certain. There is absolutely no doubt the team is eating the proper brand of eggs. That pleases him to no end, so he is a happy man tonight.

The 1.0 days of accidental, incorrect eggs are far behind us.

It would be great if a reporter asked him what eggs he orders now.

The reporter would be banned if s/he asked Schiano about those eggs.

He didn’t seem that upset. He is saying we are close and getting better . He sounds like a politician spinning the record.
I don’t know .
This team has won 1 game In the past 2 months and hasn’t really been close in any others. We just got rolled on Senior Day .

In addition to that, the drum I keep beating is that we are getting beat down by schools that are supposed to be our peers. I get it that they’ve been investing in big time football far longer than we have, so I’m not asking to win the league, but we’ve been doing it long enough to at least be competitive. Forget Ash, forget Flood, forget all the other excuses, other schools are doing it, why aren’t why? There’s no glory in smashing the Wagners of the world when we’re a school like RU.

You don’t think the team looked great early on? It was just dumb mistakes and turnovers that completely fvcked the team.

It should have been like this all year. Let the youth go out there and play ball. Show flashes. Make mistakes. Watch film. Learn.

This season was never about wins and losses.

When Bob Mc came here the press was at it's
lowest toward RU. Bob said I will get in my car and drive to every high school if necessary.
Just tell what u want. They said for start, NJ coaches, academic support. by which he got for
all RU sports. Greg Shiano got it in spades.
And how WOW! We would open the paper and it would headline , Greg got us white lines in the parking lot, then Greg got the bricks painted red, Greg got us a new scoreboard. No one
ever brought attention to our foot ball team
like Bob. But maybe it is time to turn the page.

Here is the question that someone in that room needs to ask him. Do you think Rutgers looks like a well coached team? I can tell just by looking at his facial expressions and gestures on the clips running in the upper right hand corner on this site, that I am better off not listening to his remarks.

Guys ran out of their lanes and also didn’t break down fast enough. Exact same issue and return against Indiana but this one was kicked to the right spot. If you’re covering against a guy faster than you don’t sprint down to the 10 yard line and also leave your lane. You gotta start breaking down at around the 25 and read the return while maintaining lane discipline. Add in that we have Walkons playing against 4 stars on special teams and guys get knocked around.

This is about as bad as when Kim Jong-Un or Putin have a news conference with their national "press" asking questions.

And he believes he's closed the gap between RU and OSU/Michigan/PSU (which is ridiculous in itself), but that those teams continue to get better. Really?? Like it's a surprise to him that every team is getting better and that we need to do the same. Schiano is hardly impressive in any aspect as a leader.

We play in a world class conference and the much tougher half of the conference. Everyone else has been up and down these past 5 years. OSU has stayed at the top and Michigan and PSU have been climbing. Indiana had one good year. MSU had one good year. MD has been recruiting much better than us and stuck at the 7-5 or 6-6 mark. Put MSU or MD in the West and they likely are at the 8-4 or 9-3 mark every year. We are trying to catch those 2 teams.

He's confusing himself on some of his responses so much so as it's pretty painful to watch. That special teams answer makes absolutely no sense.. "we know why it happened, but why did it happen?" This is the coaching intellect we want here?
Actually, that made sense to me, "We know what mistake we made, but we don't know why our players aren't doing what they are coached to do."

Kansas, Vandy, Illinois has turned it around.
