Watching Princeton Record This Year Will Be Interesting

They are clearly in a re-building year. Starting two seniors and playing mostly a bunch of freshman and sophomores.

In OOC, they started with 7 loses in a row, then won 7 in a row.

Just one IVY game so far, a close loss to Ivy leader Penn.

I've long advocated Banghart as a good possible CVS successor, mostly because I like to watch her clocklike offense (and because she's local).

But this year (and next) will be very telling. If she can develop the team the way I think she can, I'll stick with my advocating her; if not, not.

I started this string back in early January. Princeton started the season with 7 straight losses.

I was curious to see if this coach could develop a team during a re-build year the way I thought she could.

As of last night they are tied for first in the Ivy after 6 straight wins and defeating league-leading Penn.

IMO, this 41-year-old woman can coach.

I looking forward to seeing if she can keep it up at a P5 school someday, maybe even ours...

I have supported her as the successor for a few years now but I have to admit after watching our team play against Wisconsin I was impressed with what Eatman did with the team that night. Could he recruit as the head coach, I don't know.

I’m with you. Would love to see Banghart succeed CVS. She’s got a good reputation and that’s what attracts recruits.

Princeton started the season with seven losses. And wound up winning the Ivy.

Banghart knows how to develop players and coach a team.

Does she have any experience coaching at a major school (Baylor,ND,UConn,South Carolina, etc.) in a big time conference ?

No, but a successful mid-major head coach moving to a P5 program is common. Like Pike.

I'll let this season and CVS' health problems end before I start thinking of a replacement.
But can understand those thinking about Banghart being a good choice or those feeling Eatman has earned the right to succeed Vivian if Stringer decides to call it a day.

Who would be the more effective recruiter? I like Eatman, but I love Banghart. She’s my choice.

Both are slightly unproven, I think. I don't think that is Eatman's primary role, and recruiting to an Ivy is nothing like a power conference. Banghart is a heck of a coach, that's for sure. But everything is a crap shoot, unless it is an almost lateral move, like CVS coming here. And even then . . . Did anyone really expect Jolette and Carlene to bomb out rather spectacularly? Even GG moving from Duke to Texas and pffft. The erratic success of Melanie Balcomb, another name mentioned for Rutgers? Lots to think about when the time comes.
