We finally get to be like Syracuse (non-conference schedule announced)

ZERO games away from the RAC. CCNY as the opener?

I love Pikiell, but WTF is up with scheduling a D-3 team?

I'd rather have seen him schedule one road game instead of this nonsense that won't even count in the RPI if postseason is on the table. Really weak.

We are a rebuilding team. Who gives a damn about rpi...that's a concern for a good team, not us. Just fluff the win total as much as you can IMO.

22 home games? Seriously, that's crazy. But we can't fit in Princeton at Jadwin.

To play not a single non-conference road or neutral game is the definition of an embarrassing schedule. It's advertising to the world that we are beyond weak. With this glut of lousy home games, the place is going to be virtually empty with the exception of saps like me and other season ticket holders that can't help themselves and will trudge out there. Even the most die hard of fans will be hard pressed to commit to 22 home games so the atmosphere will blow.

I believe it has been announced that all BIG teams will have one home and one away conference game in the first few days of December.

This is definitely a Syracuse like schedule. There were several years when they never played a game in OOC out of NY state and most were with cupcakes. During those years Syracuse was rated one of the top teams in the country. We are no where near a top rated team in the country. We are still trying to improve after everything our team has been through for these last few years. I believe when Pikiell has an entire roster of his players we will play some tougher teams in our OOC schedule. He has only been our coach for 16 months after taking over a team that was coming off a 7-25 disaster.

Totally agree.

I understand all that. I don't mind loading up on cupcakes but the D-3 opener and zero netural/road games is bad. Otherwise, it's fine.

A D3 opener is garbage and does nothing to get people interested early. There is zero to gain by this. It's like opening against a high school team.

It used to be an Eddie Jordan ploy to snap losing streaks and now we've adopted it. Disappointing.

It cracks me up that people are complaining about our "embarrassing" schedule. Are you kidding me? Our entire program has been the poster child for embarrassment for as long as I can remember. I really believe we finally have a coach who is going to change that. If Coach Pikiell thinks it makes sense to open with St. Elizabeth's Elementary School that's OK with me. I've been a season ticketholder for more than 25 years, I'm not looking for a quick fix, for now I want to see kids working hard, learning and competing to the best of their ability. I trust the current coaching staff to keep moving us in the right direction, if they think this is the right way to do it then I am on board!

Look at football, play Washington OOC and Maryland played cupcakes and they make a bowl game. People act like Maryland is so good with that lousy schedule.

114 is right--too bad Gary Waters retired from Cleveland State. Would have been nice to have him back, and would hope he would have had a good reception. Took us to three NIT's--and when before that was our last post-season appearance? As they would say around the campus, hardly a man (or woman) is now alive, etc.

When the program gets the players we need, better games will be scheduled. The conference games are all tough. I will admit it will be impossible to learn much but we should have a great record, lol.

No concern at Rutgers Athletic Dept about selling tickets? Guess they are counting on all the diehards. Lines should be short for hotdogs and lavatory. Silver lining ... everyone who wants can improve their seat location.

Uh.. Kevin went to two NITs

Florida State game should be fun. Hamilton always said RAC was very loud.

So because we've been the poster child for embarrassment the coaching staff should double down on that and own it for the foreseeable future? No one is going to be fooled by by a better record based on a schedule like this in Year Two. Not even a neutral court game or two. Ridiculous. I'm less inclined to blindly "trust" any coaching staff's ability to move us in the right direction. I want to see evidence. This is just giving up before the season starts and simply stated that just sucks. Some people seem to forget that we're supposed to be in the Big Ten not the NEC. I'd be shocked if this season's average attendance isn't by far the worst in 30 years. I'm glad it's not my job to try and sell tickets.

Whoa!! Did you go to any of the games last year?

I have to disagree with a lot of people In this thread. How do you get students interested? Win....win...and win some more.

All the die hards complaining are going to show up anyway. Why not try and put on a show for the kids. The majority of students right now aren't going to care who we're playing as long as they can come out and watch us win and enjoy themselves.

In a couple years? Yea. This would be a joke. But not a problem now

Attendance will be awful at those games and I'm sure the Admin knows it.

But they want wins hoping that this would kick start enthusiasm.

I'm not sure they're right about that .

Except for SHU & FSU every game on the OCC schedule should have some form of major giveaway (2 for1 tickets for non season ticket holder, season ticket-holder concession discounts along with 1/2 price tickets available) and other help them come giveaways .
The games might not put fans in the stands, but the giveaways and discounts might add a few.
Also at every OOC game a drawing ( have to be present) for a season ticket for the 2017-18 conference games .
