This is good news as he just visited us within the last few days. This kid is really good. I have seen him several times. Kansas is in his Final 10 as is Notre Dame and Seton Hall. I know he knows Naz Reid real well too.

We need to keep in the game this here until the end ...even if it's not us.

Longer we can stay on his,
Mathis and Reid's radar ....more it will help us be taken more seriously by kids of similar caliber in class of 2019

And we might nail one or more

I am well aware of that. SHU should have an advantage but our coaches are relentless. There are many outstanding programs in his Final 10.

I don't mean to say that gives SHU an advantage (I don't think it does). Just jokingly stating a fact. Also I'm fairly certain most coaches are relentless.

Well there's no I in team so Indie's gone
Notre Dame is too pompous / religious ....so buh by to SHU/ Temple (Pun Intended)
Syracuse is too far North, Miami / Florida too South, and Kansas too Middle
That leaves Connecticut and Rutgers.

He looks at the final two, see the ending of Ucheat / cuts them...cause that's what real men do.

Hello "RUTGERS".

MO

Would love to get both Carey and Muhammed from Hudson Catholic to South Bend and continue the NJ backcourt trend.

The kid mentioned as ND in his Top 10 which is why I commented.

Get a little more bran in your diet----it will do you some good.

Your post came off as if you were rubbing it in about our previous administration's failures. Make a hostile post. Get a hostile response.

You've been on here long enough to know that.

If I went to the nd board and said the same I'm sure everyone would be so polite .

Don't be disappointed we've been down this road before

Notre Dame has been picking some of the best players in New Jersey like forever. I wish they would just get players from the midwest.

We get some but not many-------Big Ten hard to beat in that part of the country.

BIg Ten conference, solid coach and staff , new facilities upgrade on the way.... these are the factors that should change out luck on big time recruits... can't wait for us to make the next steps in recruiting some big time kids and maybe this kid is it!!!!

Seems to be a fair feeling. We make lots of lists, which is good in showing that we are in conversations with the big boys, but does become a bit numbing after a while.

Yeah, I mean a top 10 might as well be a top 25 -- totally meaningless other than the fact that we're generally still in the mix, but certainly no indication whatsoever that we're a serious contender.

We aren't on Naz Reid's list anymore...that was a pipe dream once Kentucky started sniffing around, even more so now that LSU is involved.

The dominos probably won't fall on a consistent basis until Rutgers has a winning season and they start winning 5-6 league games.Fans see with the 2018 recruiting class that Rutgers targets don't want to make a early commitment which certainly would help in having the dominos start falling in Rutgers favor.

Kansas is a hard place not to like.

UNC like campus with great tradition and facilities second to no one.

While Carey is a high volume scorer, he's truly a shooting guard in a combo or PG body and Mathis is in my own opinion THE target for Shooting Guard....Carey projects at the next level as a PG because of the quickness and ability to score or generate points at that position and because he's probably truly 6'1 or maybe 6'2"..... While it would be a great task to get Carey to RU and plug him into a guard rotation with Baker and hopefully Mathis, if you gave me a choice between Mathis or Carey, you can't go wrong with either one, but it would be Mathis all the way.....I'm also pretty certain that Geo Baker can score and play both guard positions like Carey and has a lot of upside at 6'4" with great length and ability to score.

RU has to recruit a Carey until the very end or until he says "thanks but no thanks", which I anticipate coming for RU and some others locally and nationally as well.

Is Carey and mac mutually exclusive? In some ways, though not ranked as highly, mac seems like a better pg to run the team. Right now I want Mathis badly since he seems like our best chance and it would give us a good fantastic start to the 18 class with two 4 star recruits.

I think it's not one or the other for McClung and Carey...if somehow McClung verballed and Carey changed course, it would not be a case of "sorry we are out of room"....but logically we need 2 guards in this class and the ideal situation is getting the best two guards you can. I think McClung has a unique situation where he's a high academic target (Yale etc) and I think compliments what RU has been working towards on work-ethic and culture change.

As much as talent and ratings are the only way fans look at things, the baseline or foundation really starts from player #1 talent-wise and #13 at the end of the roster. The more consistent programs (not referring to the factories like Kentucky UNC etc.) find and fit players over a 5-7-10 year run....so much so that you forget the players names and you are recruiting for a role/system/product.

That is the first step to a winning program, to get as many like-minded/grounded and hardest playing kids together and implement how you want to play as a staff.....after a year or two of plugging those gaps in the roster, then you can attack the next level batch of recruits that pushes the level higher.

I see McClung as a more the feasible option that has legitimate upside and I would be pretty excited to land him and not feel like missing Carey is a setback. Carey is in my opinion a "national recruit" that has sights set on being part of a factory/traditional ranked program....and with that comes a lot of programs falling by the wayside on his recruitment. In Year 4 or 5 of this programs rebuild of Pikell, when you hopefully have put together 2 to 3 consecutive winning seasons and generate regional buzz that RU is now a factor pushing towards 20 wins consistently, is when you can feel more confident that the Carey of the 2020-2021 recruiting class takes RU up the next 2 levels.
