"Over the past quarter century we've been down this road many times before."

or

"Nope, this is a new road for us."

Fans are optimistic based on recruiting and last seasons results. The next step is winning B1G games home and away.

Pikiell has in his capacity the most modern GPS system available.

Everyone before him had TomTom.

This is a completely and totally new and different road for RU. Never even been in this zip code.

This program has far more momentum than football. Facilities are in process, SP is a top level coach and as long as Hobbs stays around and supports him we shouldn't have to worry about a Louisville coming around to poach him.

Agreed AND, listening to him I get the feeling he wants to he here, make it work, and stay.
the man is thankful, and humbled. that he was hired as o ur new hc..the man has plenty of juice...he's going to be our calhoun...and take us dancing for many years to come....i am curious to how many coaching offers he had while he was at stony brook....im sure he did..the man knows his how to coach, and recruit.

We have been down this road ...exactly once

We have a head coach with a very good staff...

The closest thing to we I think we have had was Kevin bannon who had a pretty good staff...and, not a coincidence, was the coach that was closest to getting it done here.

So I've said this before, the last three coaches did not have a problem recruiting. In fact all three brought in Rivals top 150 players at a greater clip than Pike, but Pike has something none of these coaches have-an assistant staff that can properly develop the players we have. That was the downfall of them all.

The Final Four team certainly reached the ultimate goal and its been downhill ever since.Pikiell is only starting the journey and the talent still needs further improvement to be successful in the B1G.

While it is always hard to keep good coaches and their staffs,I am extremely excited about our future. There is a pot of gold at the end of this Rutgers rainbow to reward real success.

Rice at this time we were VERY optimistic. The warning signs were there, but....

Agree, at this point in Rice's tenure, I think we were all very optimistic.

We had Miller and Johnson as seniors, Biruta and Poole as sophomores, and a fantastic recruiting class coming in of Jack, Mack, Carter, Seagears, Lewis, Randall, and Kone. We had a coach that emphasized defense and had shown success at his prior stop at a lower level school. Future definitely looked bright.

The difference is that the wheels were already coming off the bus at that point and Rice was driving it at top speed toward a ditch. I don't get the same impression from Pikiell at all.

You can't compare NCAA bball from 1976 to 2017, but we can certainly say in the "modern era" of major conference realignment RU has never been in this zip code. And that has to do with the head coach, the assistant coaches, the AD, the conference, the ability to fundraise, the academic support, facilities, etc. I said it the day Pike was hired - RU fans can just sit back now and watch the way a "big time" program is built and I will again remind people it will be much quicker than expected. Last year, we had to rely on guys that were just not ready. This year, there will be less of that. And that will continue going forward. We are less than two years in and not only do we have a full roster, but we are well-positioned for next year and beyond as well. This is a team RU will be proud of.

Each one had recruiting issues.

The last two coaches that looked promising, especially with recruiting, (Bannon and Rice) had personal demons destroy their careers. Pike seems much more grounded.
