We weren’t going undefeated

And yet suddenly USC looks beatable, especially to a team with our strengths on offense. Win the next two, beat USC and we will be favored win the remaining games. It’s looking like best case a 1 loss season, worst case 3 maybe 4 losses.
Yes,Rutgers wasn't going undefeated. At the same time Rutgers should have defeated Nebraska after holding them to just 14 points. The offense was missing in action for most of the game with dropped passes and questionable play calling.Failure to make a touchdown from the one yard line after four plays is inexcusable.

100% agree.

That being said, the sky is not falling. I remember many people saying that they longed for the day when it looks like we belong on the field with these teams. Arguably we have jumped past that and are wondering why we didn’t win in a very hostile environment.

And as much as I love Greg, jury is still out that he can get a win against a traditional/good B1G team on the road.

I can gauranty you that one loss season maybe even more

Sticking with my 8-4 prediction.
Sounds about right - maybe 9-3 - and that's a heck of an improvement from the pre-Schiano days. You guys grabbed a solid HC who has you going in the right direction. Other teams can no longer consider Rutgers as an easy gimme game. And keep in mind, that Nebraska team you played yesterday has some talent and was the head scratcher going into this season

It's too bad you guys don't have Michigan on your schedule this year as I think you could actually take them down. They've really taken a huge step back.

We played VERY poorly on O and still had several chances to win on the road at 5-1 Nebraska.

We bring R C/C+ game on Offense we could’ve/should’ve won the game.

Why not? If minn can play USC tough (and win), why can't we?

This year was the chance for RU to achieve. We didn't even have to over-achieve.

Need improvement from left guard. He was getting beat all day.

If black doesn't stop the TD are you still saying that?

Our OL has to play better.
I should’ve read the whole thread before posting since several of you had already said the same thing I did about the O line. Like most teams in most seasons, our results will largely depend on how our OL and DL do. When the lines play great, it makes it so much easier for the rest of the players, including the WB, to shine.

What happened to the tush push to get a 1 yard TD? We had 4 cracks at it to get a 1 yard TD.

I don't care about undefeated but we needed the win to keep "program momentum" being ranked, being talked about throughout the cfb world/recruits. Being in NJ with all that goes on we need to hook folks who aren't diehards and this was R chance. Hopefully we can be 7-1 heading to USC....

I don’t know that I’d conclude that we should’ve beaten Nebraska. I wish we had and the D obviously played well enough to give us a chance. But Nebraska probably thinks they could’ve played a whole lot better on offense in that game too.

Our offense was just not good enough, in that game at least, to get the job done. For me, there is never a “should’ve” won. There is only did or didn’t win.

There is no reason to throw the ball on the one. Run it 4 times

True, but I don’t think most people thought this one would be a loss at beginning of year. But Ruhle has some big boys on that D Line, they were the difference

I absolutely thought the games @ Neb and @ USC were probable loses. As the year has unfolded, the Wisky, Illinois , @ MD games look like tossups and the games vs UCLA and @ Mich St are not easy. I thought UCLA played tough at PSU. They have had an extremely tough schedule. I don’t see how anyone could have realistically predicted better than 4-1 at this point for RU.

Undefeated? Love you for even thinking in those terms.Stronly doubt that any of us were seriously considering a 13-0 season. We have had only 2 no loss teams in last 62 years

RU has not belonged on the same field as good teams because. We are not a FB school, haven't been one and very well may never be one.Three good seasons in the last 63 years is ample evidence that we are not FB oriented even though we started this whole mess 155 years ago

Undefeated. That means without feat I believe. I would be surprised but pleased if we won another game this season. Total let down but typical of RU.A good academic school but not even a decent FB program one.

Rutgers ball is like one of those shopping carts with a bad wheel that you always have to fight with. You can jigger with it but it becomes clear its staying broken and you need a new cart

reinvent history…erect new statues, give Schiano a few awards and retro pay to 2000 and put GW, Mike Conlan and Garrett Shea into the hall of fame .

This new narrative and another 20 years of an inept coach will reverse the curse.

I too like Greg.As a person.As. A FB coach it's up for grabs. The last undefeated team we had was 48 years ago.I was secured at Giants Stadium on Thanksgiving' Day nite. Beat Colgate the Stadium loudspeakers broadcast the sound of the RU bells ringing on campus. Great nite. BUT it was SO long ago. 48 years .Almost half of my 99 years(as of this coming Wed.

We finished that season with Colgate. Our schedule back then was slightly different than it is today.
