I know it's a long way off, but the pattern is looking really good for a great day for the OSU game. Confidence is high in a front coming through late Thursday/early Friday, with high pressure building in behind the front for the weekend. Saturday is looking to be seasonably mild and dry, with high temps in the low 60s (normal high/low is 63/40F) and plenty of sunshine; temps will fall through the 50s and into the 40s during the game. Could this forecast go awry? Sure, it's impossible to be 100% confident 7 days out, but this is about as solid a forecast as one can get this far out.

By the way, freeze warnings are up for most of the area for early Sunday morning and early Monday morning, especially, as temps should get below freezing one or both mornings. Thus ends the growing season for most...

Still looking really good. Every source out there has Saturday as being mild and dry, although the NWS in Philly does mention a front early on Sunday possibly producing a shower or two (no mention in the NWS in NYC) and since that's not far from Saturday night, there's a small possibility this chance could threaten late Saturday night, but even if it did the amount of rain that might fall looks to be minimal. Still going with mild and dry, especially for tailgates.

Thanks. Packing the suitcase tomorrow. Weekend in Metuchen.

Lock it up for mild and dry for the entire day. High temps around 60F (typical is 63F) with mostly sunny skies early and partly cloudy skies towards evening and during the game. No rain and if we do get even the tiniest bit of rain (forecasts have been wrong before, lol), it would be a mammoth meteorological surprise - not even a mention of a slight chance of showers in any of the NWS discussions since yesterday. Temps will drop through the 50s during the game, reaching around 50F by midnight or so. Winds should die down from breezy on Friday to light on Saturday, especially after the morning. Should be a fabulous day.

So if I understand you correctly, we can expect a Cat 5 Hurricane starting at about 5pm?

It does look like the rain predicted for Sunday keeps creeping earlier and earlier. It better not move into Saturday night!

Still looks great for Saturday. Yes, there are now very slight chances for very light sprinkles as close as after midnight on Sunday morning, but no significant rain is expected until at least dawn on Sunday and having that prediction move more than 6 hours earlier, only 3 days out, is very unlikely. I'll go with this from the NWS-Philly-AFD:

THIS AIRMASS WILL BE DRY, SO NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY.

So what is the temp profile from sun up to game end? Is it a shorts day?

its basically going to be pretty cool in the morning..possible frost so 30s for those brave enough to come at 8AM. Most of the day should be in the 50s maybe touching 60. With full sun its not all that bad but if any cloud cover comes in you feel the coolness. I would say ITS NOT a day for shorts but everyone has their own threshold. I wore shorts for the tailgate for Mich St as we had temps in the mid 60s. I think anything cooler and its long pants for me.

as for shower chance on accuweater...I don't see any mention of showers on the NWS site and in the disco they say rain mainly Sunday morning so unless something drastically changes I would side with them

mild and dry... that's what it's going to feel like as OSU is bending us over on Saturday...

Per accu weather 62/50 with a 50% chance of precipitation in the evening

That's not what they're saying. They're saying a very slight chance (~5%) of a shower towards midnight and then a good chance of showers towards dawn on Sunday. Same thing the NWS is saying - the NWS doesn't even show any shower chances until 2 am on Sunday and even then the amount of rain they're forecasting between 2 am and 8 am is nuisance level (around 0.05"). Forecast remains dry for the tailgates (unquestionably) and the game (with a very, very slight chance of a sprinkle or two late in the game, but far more likely to be dry).

Should also still be plenty of sunshine throughout the day, with clouds increasing by late afternoon, which is actually a good thing for the sensitive types, as clouds will keep the temps from falling too quickly during the game - should not even go below 50F during the game, after a high in the upper 50s to near 60F. We're only 2-2.5 days out now, so any major changes are unlikely.

yes, it's a shorts day, for me at least - mostly sunny until late in the afternoon when some clouds roll in, temps near 60F, little wind - temps only dropping into the low 50s during the game mean shorts are still good...

Thanks for the clarification weather nerd

I was just looking on my phone. Doesn't give an hourly like yours. Says 80% chance of precipitation at night.

Not sure if that's an insult or not. Regardless, maybe don't post info on the weather if you're not sure about what you're posting - it just adds confusion.

Still looks great and fortunately, the NWS in Philly no longer mentions any chance of rain before 2 am on Sunday, both in their text products and in their hourly graphic (the one in the post above is current). Still looks good for a dry, mild day with partly sunny skies most of the day and temps near 60F. Will cloud up in the late afternoon/evening with temps dropping towards 50F by the end of the game. Should remain dry and even if a stray shower sneaks in, it will be nuisance level (0.01" or so). Can't wait for this one.

It wasn't but it is now. Maybe you should take your own advice as you tend to as accurate as the app on my phone.

Way to be a dick.

The good news is that every source I've seen is keeping today dry through the game, which is what most people care the most about - showers aren't expected until 2-3 am and they'll be very light.

The "bad" news is that it is looking like a cloudier day than expected for the past few days, with partly to mostly cloudy skies most of the day, becoming completely cloudy by mid/late afternoon (if not earlier).

Clouds are likely to keep temps down to the mid-50s, which is a bit below normal, but those clouds will also keep it relatively mild for the game (temps mostly within a degree or two of 50F). Still a great day for tailgates and football. Enjoy...

Best part of the game was the tailgate and the weather, lol. As expected, it was a very nice day for late October and the showers held off until after midnight. Not a lot of positives about the game, though. I do wonder if the game would've been any different if we had scored on that first possession or if it just would've been 49-10. I kind of think we would've had more momentum and kept it a bit closer, but nothing was going to help us stop Barrett, who was simply superb. Maybe it would've been 41-13.

Peeking ahead, weather looks a bit iffy for Wisconsin - model spread is large right now, so could be nice or could be showery. Will have to wait awhile before knowing on this one. Will start a new thread...
