The usual uncertainty caveats apply a week out, but right now it's looking like next Saturday will be seasonably cool with highs in the low 50s (avg high/low in Minneapolis on 10/29 is 51/35F) and hopefully the dry pattern will persist through the end of the week and the weekend. And right now, even the potential precip for Friday looks pretty light and might not materialize, so no big rainmakers are being seen on the models, which is good. Let's see how things progress through the week.

Lock it up for a bit warmer than average temps (highs now forecast to be in the mid/upper 50s) and dry conditions for Saturday, as per every model for several model cycles. Hopefully light winds, too. The great gameday weather streak continues.

DISCUSSION...(Today through Sunday)
Issued at 313 AM CDT Mon Oct 24 2022

Tuesday through Sunday... Behind the low that has been with us over
this past weekend and today we will move into generally zonal
westerly flow for the rest of the week. Temperatures will generally
be near normal with daytime highs in the low to mid 50s. Although
with normals falling by a around degree every other day normal on
Tuesday will be above normal by Friday. By next weekend we could see
the return of some more warm air advection, although much weaker
than what we saw this past weekend, allowing for highs in the upper
50s. As for precipitation chances there isn`t much to say
unfortunately. There are still signs of a shortwave passing through
on Thursday in the deterministic models, but looking at ensemble QPF
there most members have 0.05" or less. The way it has been evolving
in the models the past few mornings also reminds me of the rain
chances this summer that ended up with nothing. Certainly not enough
to make a dent in our precipitation deficit this month, season, and
year.

The warming trend in the models continues with forecast highs on Saturday in MSP now up in the mid-60s, which, with lots of sunshine, will feel quite warm. No chance of rain, still, and winds look to be light (5-10 mph). A gorgeous day for football.

The long range peek ahead from the Climate Prediction Center for UM on 11/5 is for warmer than normal and drier than normal conditions. Let's hope that gives us highs in the 60s and no rain - still too early to forecast that, but it's at least good to see the general trends are in our favor.
