Saturday, Rutgers hosted thousands of people at Rutgers Stadium for the State Football Championships. Many of these people were probably visiting their state university for the first time.Rutgers needs to find a way for more New Jerseyans to visit and become more aware of events going on here--sports,concerts,plays,the museums, etc. Do any of you know if they offered FREE admission to the basketball game, and if they did, were there frequent messages put up on the stadium scoreboard. Three thousand empty seats for a one loss team playing on a Saturday night should not happen. Usually, I would say "empty seats don't buy hot dogs",but since it was dollar hot dog night, I'll go with empty seats don't buy sodas,pretzels,T-shirts,parking,etc.

Annually, the Rutgers ticket office misses a much better opportunity. Its best ambassadors for the program are its season ticket buyers. Sending them free tickets, especially for weekend games that are most attractive with regards to inviting friends who can make it to a game with a youngster. Friends can tag along and in many cases share a ride to the game (and not pay for parking).
