My favorite will always be from his post game conference after Cincy blew us out in 2013. He opened it by saying what disappointed him the most was that the 500 pop warner football players in the crowed didn't have a chance to get excited about the game.

I remember in Flood's first year, we beat a bad UConn team 19-3 despite scoring only one offensive TD. Flood was crowing at te postgame presser "This was Rutgers football! This is what we're all about!". Should have realized then and there what we were in for.

What's the point of starting a thread like this?

oh boy, I may have to change my entry after reading this quote from Flood made today:

"We're disappointed we're 0-2 if you look at it from a two-game perspective."

If the 1-0 mantra wasn't enough, now he's got an 0-2 thing going to justify blowouts. you can't make this stuff up.

Another classic was when nova went like 5-15 with a few pics against V Tech and flood said he didn't see anything that made him think nova shouldn't be in the game

What's the point of starting 99.9% of the threads on this board? Nobody's required to read them or respond
He didn't ask you about 99.9% of the threads. There are lots and lots of reasons for why people start threads.

He asked why you started this thread. I have the same question. What is your intent w/this thread? Seems like it ought to be a pretty easy question to answer, no?

I started the thread because it would be entertaining to relive some of the strange moments hckf has given us. That's why

I agree 100% I guess it gives little minds some sort of feelgood sensation
We ALL know there are better coaches out there
1-we dont have the $$$ to get one
2-none have ever so much as interviewed for past openings...ever
Bash on if it makes you feel good (sorry if it takes anyone away from knocking over liquor stores...)
I choose to support the team

I forget which games this happened at, but he kicked field goals down 28+ points late in the game instead of going for a first down. To me that showed a "no clue" mentality. Not to mention the leaving Nova in to throw his 6th interception of the game as that not only hurt the team but I am sure it hurt Nova's confidence.

LMAO definitely forgot about that Cincy post game. So damn funny.

I'd say for me it was the fake FG pass from Huggins vs ND when we were absolutely running all over them and it was 4th & 2.

Left Yankee stadium saying that without a doubt Rutgers wins that game if Schiano were our Coach.

I'm pretty certain you can support the team and have a harmless laugh...You honesly think a few guys making some jokes on a Monday afternoon are going to alter the course of Rutgers football?

Mikefla I love how people like you imply that anybody that doesn't think flood is a good coach isn't supporting the team. This guy has made countless pathetic decisions, while saying some head scratching things

I'd guess comic relief...

It's better than knocking over liquor stores or beating our wives.

Board Police are losers...Kids, don't be the Board Police.
Oh come on. Few things are truly more fun than knocking over liquor stores.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I wasn't asking the question to make a point. I was genuinely curious what the motivation was. I like to understand what makes people tick.

the fake punt against michigan was one the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. Up on Michigan, and you fake it on your own 40 on 4th and 10 with a silly as hell trick play.

What I remember about that was it was around the same time you clowns were clamoring and fawning over Dan Mullen. Mullen did the same thing that week & it was an even bigger fire drill than RU's. Not a peep out of you guys though.
We were also 5-1 at the time of the fake punt & could have been 6-0.

Just to clarify, I think that most people (including myself) who want Flood to be fired at this point support the players and program without question, and will still come to all the games. However, we do not support the coach, his actions/decisions, and do not feel that he gives us anywhere close a chance to be a legitimate winning team. RU athletics' financial situation is admittedly difficult, but if the remainder of the season goes as I think it will the financial impact of keeping Flood as head coach may very well become equal to or greater than the known savings of keeping him cheaply for another season.

As far as this thread goes, I laughed at some of the quotes already recalled thus far. I'd say comedic relief is a lot more preferable to miserable bashing of the coaching staff, and thus a good reason to start it.

Well he did it again this past week against Wisconsin. i think his previous quote was "I just wanted to get our kicker some experience." looking back and combining these quotes from this thread with his personal emails give me a whole new understanding of who we are dealing with.

No, you choose to support a horrible coach that is embarrassing the school I love.

I actually liked that we went for the fake and thought that it was such an absurd decision that Michigan wouldn't be prepared for it. The actual play that was called was a total mess but I was all in with the decision to go for it.

in their territory, 100% agree with you

4th and 5 or less, 100% agree with you

losing to michigan, 100% agree with you

it was the combination of factors that made it a really bad call. it was also near the end of the 1st half, which gave michigan momentum, and They scored a TD right after. we were damn lucky to score so quickly after or we would have lost

I totally respect your support of the team, but I think you're going off the wrong basis... we DO have the money. That's the biggest myth perpetuated here. We may not have money for a superstar coach, and that's fine. But when dozens of non-p5 programs pay much more to their coaching staff, and we pull in 4-5 times in TV contract (even at drastically reduced B1G entry)... the money is there. At the very least for an up and coming OC/DC or non-P5 head coach.

This is what every athletic department does. Trust me, I worked with one. They promote that they're broke as hell over and over to garner more funds. Sure, we don't have a lot, and we probably do have real money problems... but we're not UConn bad, and apparently, they can afford more than us. They pay Diaco 1.5M+ o_O

What's going on is Julie gets a win-win here. Either she comes in as the hero with a new coach, or can keep instilling this party line that we don't have money for a coach. As long as fans believe this, it'll happen. The top level boosters know better.

And even if you refuse to accept that, Joe Moglia is a great option, who would be out of the box, and wouldn't cost us a cent. So there you have it.

I like how we're now a collective hive mind. That's kind of nice. Thank you.

Dan Mullen's kicking butt and taking names in the SEC. Kyle Flood is no Dan Mullen, by any stretch of the imagination.

Likewise, oh, wow 5-1! You obviously missed my thread on the deceptive W/L record (http://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/floods-w-l-record-the-grand-deception-with-rpi-ranks.45884/)

Those 5 wins, by RPI ranking:
Washington St: #104
Howard (FCS): #219
Navy: #50
Tulane: #114
Michigan: #72

Bunch of world beaters there...

don't have the exact quote but in todays Courier they had an article by Dunleavy which talked about the youth of the secondary....except it was a 2013 quote pointed out by Dunleavy...then he had a similar quote from 2015...3 years of no progress giving the youth excuse

unfortunately we have a largely mom and pop fanbase. They place importance on warm fuzzies and regular guys that they can identify with. For years the athletic department has been teeming with them and Julie has to work hard to get rid of this attitude of small time almost high school rinky dink thinking.

Exactly. I'll probably get myself banned for life if we get invited to a bowl at 5-7 and it's used by some posters as a justification to say he deserves another year.

Barnwell, Boggs, Dailey....they were our "vets" and they were good players. Can't put that on the staff.

Someone hired an airplane to drag a banner calling for al golden to be fired and we have people on here who think lots of threads on a bulletin board bashing a coach who gets blown out game after game year after year is excessive?

Valid yes, Excessive, well if your definition of excessive is monotonous, repetitive, sometimes classless and personal(coach is retarded and is brain damaged) Then, yes, its excessive.

I have my issues with Flood like anybody, and have said so. I don't get his handling of QB's at all.

But there are posters who have started many threads and posted probably 100+ times they hate Flood, just not sure this is necessary.
