What are you concentrating on going 1-0 against this week?

Going 1-0 at the Acme this week, since where I used to food shop, my local A&P, is going the way of the buffalo and entering the shadow world of history.

I actually went 1-0 at said Acme for the very first time last week, and I fully intend to keep that trend going. (And I didn't even have to look at the film first to make that bold statement!)

Stupid thread, and thank you for not procreating. We don't need more whiners in this world. Find something that makes you happy instead of whining over and over on a message board about the same thing. Are you that obsessed with the head coach of the Rutgers football team? Strange and sad.

Chill out. This thread is funny and exactly the opposite of what you're talking about. There are a dozen dupe threads about why Flood sucks or who should be the next coach, or who else got fired, and on and on and on... the season is a mess, let's have a sense of humor to get us through until real changes happen. Oh yeah, and beat Michigan.

I'm teaching high school physics now so I'm going to tell my classes to concentrate going 1-0 on their tests.

By the way, one positive I see regarding Rutgers is lots and lots of RU T-shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces being worn by students now compared to 17 years ago when I was a student when the number was pretty much ZERO. Things have certainly changed and for the better!

Are you obsessed in defending him? Since you have zero sense of humor I can see where you think this thread is stupid. Maybe you should avoid threads you think are stupid. They are just over your head.
You are right about one thing....strange and sad.

I'm also targeting to be 1-0 this weekend vs. the leaves. I was 1-0 the last 2 weekends. If I am 1-0 each week till 30Nov, then I will be successful in placing the bags at the curb for my town's "leaf bowl". They also pick up leaves in late December so I would get an extra month of practice if I am 1-0 each week till 30Nov.

I am looking to go 1-0 at the craps table tonight, and then take that win to go 1-0 at A Dam Good Sports Bar. With that double header, I could be 2-0, but I'm a significant underdog in both matchup.

i'm trying to go 1-0 against the 1/2 price halloween candy at CVS. i'm not sure if that means i am going to resist temptation or get a great deal and buy it all.

Ha my wife came home with $16 worth of Halloween candy from Duane Reade at 90% off. $0.12 Reeses is not how you start a diet.

I'm concentrating on going 1-0 against pregnancy when i see my girlfriend this weekend.

Do people not realize that every coach in America stresses to their team that only this week's game matters? That it's not just a Flood thing? I'm truly baffled by the hate here.

(For the record, I think the premise of this thread is actually pretty funny.)

I can't speak for others but the thing that bothers me about Fludd's 1-0 mantra is that that is his go to answer for every tough question. Ask Flood anything of substance, the QB, situation, defensive struggles, RB rotation, OL troubles, literally anything and Fludd's answer will be, 'we're focused on being 1-0' or 'we'll do whatever it takes to be 1-0'. I guess it's better than saying, I have no clue how to answer that question but we're going to try to win the game this week...ironically, one of the only times he didn't stick to the 1-0 canned answer is when he was asked if Rettig understood the playbook, he used that opportunity to throw his backup QB under the bus, lol.

I think it's just funny how often he states it. It's like his little slogan, "we gotta do whatever we gotta do to put the team in the best position to be 1-0."

It just never seems like he's actually doing that. Plus essentially if you're talking about being 1-0 then you're talking about winning every week. He's basically saying judge me on our record because that's what I'm preaching to this team. Winning winning winning. he's not really doing that...

I agree, he puts such a huge emphasis on being 1-0 you'd think he'd actually win more games or at least be competitive. You listen to the guy talk about 1-0 all week then watch them get blownout, absolutely frustrating.

Like I said, I think he uses that phrase so much because it's the best way he knows to not actually answer a real question.

Also I'm actually a coach as well (not football), the team I coach have been pretty damn successful the past few seasons.

I always have said, we're 4-0. Time to make it 5-0 etc. not to tell Flood how to Coach/motivate, but why in the hell would you want your successful team to forget about and ignore past games where you've had success. Be proud of the success you've had and embrace it, don't hide from it.

The whole 1-0 thing just makes it seem like he's trying to hide from past games. The team clearly doesn't buy that crap anymore, otherwise they wouldn't have quit in the middle of the Wisconsin game.

Agree. I realize there are many coaches out there who specialize in coach-speak, but Flood just comes off like a mindless droid. It certainly doesn't help his public perception of lacking a personality.

Exactly, when a guy like Meyer says it he doesn't sound like a complete jackass because he actually wins.

Flood will say this 1-0 crap all the way until the post game this weekend. And then people here will call me names for expecting a win. Don't preach that you're putting your team in a position to go 1-0 and then consistently get blown out. I'm going to call you a bad coach and expect that you get canned. He does it to himself.

It's like Rex Ryan when he was saying the Jets were going to win the SuperBowl during the preseason that one year and then they ended up being like the worst team in the NFL. Jet fans had every right to call for his head. Just like I had every right to laugh at him the entire season for making himself look like an idiot.

Heck im already 3-0 this week, with a 3-day weekend im tryna become bowl eligible

And for those making fun of the 1-0 coach speak a lot of nfl players and coaches say it...i heard Pete Carrol and Sean Payton say in the past...a Jets player used it a few weeks ago about playing the Patriots and the 6-0 Carolina Panthers are using it this week

I'm going 1-0 by not pressing the snooze button tomorrow morning. One press, and it's 0-1.

Huge wins last night. Won both matchup and covered the spread. Now today I'll concentrate on going 1-0 vs the drive home.

I'll be 1-0 tommorrow evening around 7pm when Rutgers takes a knee to clinch the victory. Harbaugh will have a blank stare and will be 0-1.
