What did you guys expect?

"Keep Flood...fire Flood...I don't care either way but I think many of you guys need to re check your expectation levels at this point."

Is it too much to ask that the starting QB puts up at least a few points? Am I expecting too much?

It is going to be tough for any coach not named Meyer to take his team to the B1G championship, even Harbaugh. The only thing we can hope for is for these guys to implode after a while - like they have in the past.

That does not mean we cannot hope for 9 and 10 win seasons, but it will take a few years. Next year we will be better with the same coaching staff.
There is zero evidence this team will be better next year, it will be the same old - same old.
Flood is a poor coach, decision maker and developer of talent, we're going no place with him.

I disagree. There's absolutely no guarantee that this will be the case.

I expected--foolishly--that our coach would try something a little f ck ing different than the same old sh t he does every game, something different from run run pass punt, and hang back on defense to prevent a big play. I expected him to show a little damn creativity for one freaking time.

Maybe all the loyal fans who sold their tickets at a profit last night could cough up their profits to support a new coach.

Deal. Promise me a new coach and I'll send the check for $100 Fed Ex tomorrow morning.

Well, I give you props for standing up. I suspect the guy who has 6-8 seats in Section 107 who I don't think I have ever seen because there are always visitor fans in his seat will not do the same.

And why would he when the university is ked by a president who has made it clear he would not use the money to invest in athletics but instead cut the subsidy?

At least he volunteered to pony up his profits.

Everyone wants to point fingers after last night. Problem is there are not enough fingers to point out everything that is wrong and needs to be addressed.

Rutgers had an average length of possession of 17 yards if you take away the Rettig drive at the end of the game. IU on much shorter fields due to turnovers and ones that ended up in scores was about 24 yards per possession. That has nothing to do with Barret versus Jones.

We need something other than a pro-set offense until we are able to recruit better players. Our offensive philosophy against B1G teams doesn't match the talent we are putting out there right now, doing the same thing over and over hoping that something changes is pointless. When it comes to offense, hope is not a strategy.

Ok, spin a stat by excluding Rutgers TD drive. Why not exclude Rutgers first drive as well. Ohio State defense was just getting warmed up. Should not count when using a stat.

Yes, offensive performance has an effect on defensive performance. Without looking at time of possession, I can guarantee Indiana ran a significant number of plays more than and held the ball longer than Rutgers because Jones was unable to sustain drives especially in the fitst half and Zeke had 3 long rushing TDs where Ohio State did not need to sustain a drive. Ohio State defense was on the field against Indiana a lot more than the Rutgers game. There is a connection between the offensive and defensive units and by facing Barrett rather than Jones comparing our performance to the Indiana performance is comparing apples to oranges.

But thanks for your wealth of information.

only about the 6 or 7th home game I missed over the last 39 years but we were moving my son to his new home in Pa. and I wasn't going to make the drive back to Piscataway that late in the day and go by myself. But to be honest, I have been less than excited to attend some of the games this year, watch the team struggle, make the walk back and forth from the silver lot, and get home at 1am.

I hope I get some excitement back for Nebby and Maryland..

Here is the thing...and I completely hear what you are saying.

However

What on earth was out gameplan to try to win this game? Seriously ? We ran how many plays with one and no wide receivers. We were going to over power ohio state at the line of scrimmage?

We had a gameplan to win against top 5 Michigan state. We had no gameplan last night to win. And I was one here hyping the need to keep control of the game tempo last night to have a chance

On defense? I had no idea on what we were doing on our scheme. And i watch for it

Our players and fans deserve a better coaching effort that what we had last night

I don't think it would have made a difference in the score...but at least look like we are going to make the other
Coach to beat us

Sitting back most on the night on defense and wait for them to run over us and then have the arrogance to try to run over them on offense to me screams of let's keep the score as close as possible
I haven't been following this thread but I just saw this post...I absolutely agree, it seemed to me that the goal was to not lose too bad. There was nothing different in this gameplan than any other. We played the #1 team in the country, on our home field, on national TV and all we did was show up. I think Flood realizes that a close loss to a good team is a win for him, that will never get us to the next level.
