It's always good to take the pulse of the opposition. I thought the comment section was interesting. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/foru...realistic-ceiling-for-greg-schiano-at-rutgers https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/schiano-to-rutgers-link.254455/ https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/greg-schiano-returns-rutgers https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/breaking-schiano-back-to-rutgers.257882/#post-5652260
From a Nebraska standpoint on our message boards many are in favor. Everyone knows he’s the best guy to be at Rutgers.
They're all basically down playing it. I think that's great. It'll be interesting how recruiting goes in the next few years and if they still feel the same way.
Greg Schiano was recently on his staff, so @CoachUrbanMeyer is quite qualified to weigh in on @RFootball's new hire. Then, Urban previews the @OhioStateFB vs. @BadgerFootball matchup in Indy: pic.twitter.com/K9kz1pCmEE— Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) December 5, 2019
He was a great recruiter at OSU. For whatever that's worth. It's much easier to sell a finished product.
Yeah. In my experience, Michigan fans have always come off as douchebags. Very good school though. But lots of snobs.
I honestly don't really care about outsiders' opinions. They don't really know much about Rutgers and the Politics of NJ. Schiano absolutely does. I mean the Governor was there today. We're going to be underestimated. I think Schiano and the staff he puts together will 100% make the bigger programs feel threatened. They can keep downplaying it all they want. The reality is, he and his staff are going to recruit the sh*t out of NJ. Top 25 classes are going to happen. And he's going to develop players and have them ready for the NFL. Being ranked 7th in the nation wasn't a fluke his last time around. It's going to happen again and UM or PSU or OSU won't be able to do anything about it.
I only hope Schiano gets a chance to whip Khaki's ass before he runs to the NFL with his tail between his legs after the Michigan fans tire of finishing 3rd.
I'm not concerned about what others think. Now more than ever it's irrelevant. The rebuild is happening. There is no doubt in my mind. The only question is the ceiling. And that question is years away. Enjoy the ride. There will be doubters but in the near term, they'll be drowned out by the upward climb.
These guys have no clue. They look at Schiano's prior successes and they run it down because it was the Big East. Well Schiano recruited a lot of 4 stars to those Big East teams and he beat a lot of Big Ten teams to get them. That was recruiting to a Big East school. No one seems to realize that he now has a Big Ten school to recruit to. If he could steal 4 stars to a Big East Rutgers, in what world would he not be more successful recruiting to a Big Ten Rutgers? Add in the fact that New Jersey talent is better than most Big Ten states and the argument gets even stronger. What happens if Schiano cuts down the NJ players leaving? How good would Wisconsin be without NJ running backs? And there are going to be 4 and 5 stars that given a chance would rather stay home. As great as Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State are, they are not NJ where these kids live. Some will want to stay. Keep overlooking us Big Ten. That's just what we want.
I agree with this. I just think other folks really don’t understand that this was a monumental shift at Rutgers and that things are very different this time around. Four years from now folks will be saying “is that Rutgers?”
And you know what? Not for nothing, but people have been trashing the Big East for so long, even most people here have just come to accept as fact the nonsense that the Big East stunk. Nothing could be further from the truth. I remember in maybe '08, '09, Pete Fiutak did an exercise to look at the records of all P6 (at the time) conference teams against all other P6 conference members, only OOC and Bowl games counted. The conference with the best record against the other power 5 conferences was the Big East, followed by the PAC 10. Schiano himself pointed out today that in the '06 final standings, the BIg East had the #6, #10 and #12 ranked teams. .
I suspect he was banned, he hasn't been around for a long time. Or he got tired of the beatings he got for being such a PSU homer and Joepologist.
Well.. Schiano did once turn them down to stay at RUTGERS... LOLOLOLOLOL... too funny.. they still have their feeelwings hurwt over that... awwwww
