Casual BB fan with no real knowledge of the game to even try to evaluate what I am looking at.
But, winning the first four games (even if it is against some questionable opponents) has to be looked at as a good thing for what has been a poorly performing program for some time.
Can this team seriously be looked at as one making the NIT?

I think NIT is unlikely. You have to win somewhere between 18-20 games now to get a sniff at the NIT since they changed the rules for entry. Honestly, I think with our 3 point shooting and free throw shooting, you can probably look for somewhere between 14-17 wins. 17 wins is what I'm hoping for and then maybe a CBI invite.

I would have to agree with David. If we were to win 17 games and go to the CBI look at that as great progress going forward. We still don't have a dependable 3 point shooter or even a good shooter from 15-17 feet out that can easily knock down a jump shot when it's needed. Also our FT shooting is appalling. There is no justification to shoot at or near 50%. If we are to be successful we need to shoot close to 70% from the FT line and 40+ percent on field goals. Our three point shooting is really wanting. If---if we can start hitting some of them and actually shoot 30% which is not too difficult from 3 point land, we may surprise. But I'm not counting on it. We have to play stingy defense and keep our turnovers low and maybe we have a chance to steal some games here and there. For me, a winning record, the first in years would be a success.

I think if we can win 16 games or more we will go to the CBI Tournament. I like that one because the finals are 2 out of 3. We really need to make at least .500 this season.Hopefully we can begin to improve our 3 point shooting plus our free throw percentage.

I haven't seen anything yet that tells me we can be good enough on the offensive end to win many games vs better competition

Given how good we have been on the defensive end 3 of 4 games that is saying something.

1) As we know the NIT used to try to pave the way for a .500 RU team to get to the garden...... if we made it, not very often, the NIT was rewarded with a crowd of about 15,000 or so, for the semi's

they have made the NIT more prestigious by only taking teams with higher win totals, but when they wind up with two western teams, or a team that is really not that local, the crowds were way down..

2) as one who did not make the St Johns exhibition game, how was our shooting and foul shooting?
the score seemed rather high, so did we do better that night?

From my eyes, We do everything else good enough to sneak into if the NCAAs ...IF we make enough shots. We get the looks...can we make enough of them ?

The answer to that question will determine our win range from 14 to 22...

The St.Johns exhibition was by far the best performance so far because Rutgers was matching baskets with a opponent that has talent equal to or better than Rutgers.

I do not see any chance at NCAA from this team..none....the shooting will not take care of itself and our inside game is going to struggle...500 overall is a reasonable goal...NIT could be in reach but its still a reach

I will be pleased with a winning season. But don’t dump on what many of you may think is pessimistic. “I Like Pike”!!!! I think I’m trying to be realistic.

Win all OOC games / home or away (including SH and FSU - 13) . Win all conference home games (9).
22-9 for B1G Tourney.
