What's the Best Way To Get Parking For the Army Game?

I called the Army ticket office and ordered a general parking lot pass last month. It came this past week.

I just park in the Highland Falls municipal lot just down from the main (Thayer) gate near McDonald's. The walk to the stadium is nice and not that long. Walking from lots to stadium isn't that short anyway. Plus by parking in municipal lot you skip the car inspection lines and all that.

The parking lot gate I like best is the Stony Lonesome gate. Its on top of the hill and you drive down to the stadium. Its less of a cluster to get out of. The Stony lots are marked in red on this map

If you do walk, the walk down Stony Lonesome is pretty scenic.

If you get a general parking pass, can you park in any lot -- red, blue, or green? Or is the general parking lot pass for somewhere else?

Thanks for this info. Another friend of mine said the Blue Lot is best at Army, but this sounds more enticing.

Blue lots are nice. Some of them are almost as far as the municipal lot (1.1 mile walk) and they can be close to the iconic parts of the post. I like being up in the woods with the pig roasts and bagpipers. Its a bit more loosey-goosey. I've never even seen MPs in the upper red lots (quick walk down to stadium).

Interested in the answer to that question above about "assigned or general Parking" I am going to order a pass as well..can I request a certain lot and/or is their a special visitors area or just have at it situation?

I've never done the general parking route but the Army site has this (general parking is a white pass - they've been tweaking things around the past year or two):

hey thanks for that..didn't mean to make you my personal google..was going to reach out to them direct anyway but seemed like you had great insight. Helpful. Appreciate the linky...

Army is my "other team" (with RU I have glorious Saturdays lol) and I go to most home games. As I said though nobody should fear the walk from municipal lot. Even for sellouts its half empty. The mile walk has lots of features. Go behind Herbert Hall Alumni center on the way up the hill (nice brook runs along it) and in rear is nice fountain. They have bands and dancing mascots now at top of hill where they sell the beers in newly expanded area. They are trying to be more like Stanford but with camo.

when I went to army about 10 years ago we entered thru what looks like the Stoney gate and they made everyone park in that big lot on the left (H) and and we bused up to the stadium..walked back down the hill.

When did West Point start charging for parking?Aren't our tax dollars enough?

Believe it or not, service academy (and they aren't all the same) football does not run off tax dollars as much as people think. They use some of course but Army football could pay for itself (tickets still sell despite losing) but is pushed to raise money for other non revenue sports just like other teams (and USMA alums donate tons for new facilities etc). What's a little new now is that Army has an AD that's out of marketing (worked for Notre Dame). Like Roger Goodell - who also came up out of marketing dept - Boo Corrigan looks for all the ways to squeeze dollars and hype out of program. Budget cuts added stresses to raise money. My personal gripe is that they've taken the video display and put ads all around the margins of display (not the borders - the actual panel). For years Army had a small, ratty video board that looked like just a big HDTV. Then they got a decent sized upgrade. Now the actual viewing area is shrunk back down because of the ads. Navy probably makes even more money.

"Service academy football games are paid for with nonappropriated funds and have been long planned. Such funds generally come from outside sources and are not approved through Congress.

Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said his department had provided information to Pentagon officials to assure them that no government money will be spent on any aspect of the game. Gladchuk said a Navy home game brings in about $4 million from tickets, sponsorship, television and radio rights fees and other revenues such as parking and concessions. The game essentially pays for itself, he said. Football revenue funds Navy’s 32 other sports teams."

I've never used that lot. I'm usually in UR lot if I'm in a lot at all these days (only when I'm given parking passes by relatives who buy season tickets every year and then dont go to half the games lol). 10 years ago things were more tense and strict (I couldn't ride a bike on post back then). Now they've loosened-up a lot. Hardly any car searches take place and they do the body scans a little different. There are DJs at Trophy Point and people are blitzed. When game is a blowout I just go walk around all over. Couldn't do that 10 years ago.

My family had season tickets for close to 50 years. Unless things have changed in the last few years, parking for visiting team fans INSIDE West Point are large, designated lots with shuttle bus service to the stadium. The lots close to the stadium are paid for by season ticket holders and there are passes that get checked as you enter the lots.

got my general pass this week from Army in the mail. I'm parking in White. they actually gave an address for the lot which was nice.

That is what I recall.

Does anyone have any experience bringing an RV to Army? I am not very far from there, so I know the roads well, and have attended numerous army games but never in my knew to me RV. According to the website you can get a pass for $70. We have a total of 15 people going so not sure how to coordinate things, because I am pretty sure the RV lot is for RVs and the lot looks like it far from the other lots.
