Both are still committed, although Taylor no longer lists us as committed on his Twitter page supposedly. Lovett is expected to flip to PSU as per multiple 247 predictions. Neither has officially decommitted. I know we're starting to recruit Darrington more heavily now.

I really hope both stay obviously but if they are going elsewhere it would be nice if the RU coaches know for sure so they can move on.

If I was the coach I would put all effort into keeping the Jon's but have a written offer ready to hand Darrington.

Darrington = Lovett both 5.5 (3)-star kids. Same type of offer lists (Darrington a ton of Ivy/Vandy types, as well...obviously a very smart kid) with RU/Pitt/Maryland/IU for Darrington and PSU for Lovett. Lovett taller but Darrington thicker. Would like to keep the Jersey kid, obviously, but let's see what happens.

We cannot have a class like the one a few years ago where we ended up with 1 walk on wide receiver. We have Sneed and Snorweah for the future backfield . If the 2 guys from 2017 bolt then we are at a real skill position deficit after next year.We need to begin the climb out of this self imposed hole NOW

the coaches can't know for sure because that's the state of recruiting in 2016. Kids literally put on a different face for the coaches theyre committed to while they send heart emojis and smiley faces to other coaching staffs trying to nab an offer. best strategy is to make them think everything is ok while you have your plan B and C ready and waiting

Wonder if Ash understood how fickle some NJ recruits could be when it came time to committing? On a positive note, very pleased with the commitment shown by Lewis, Clark and Beatty.

It's 2 kids at this time. 1 of whom, with Wisconsin, was apparently where he's always wanted to go to school. Or at least where his family wants him to, I should say. Kids are fickle all over the nation now. Social Media. Anyway, we're talking 2 of 14 NJ kids, or 1 in 7. Not bad at all IMHO.

Time to move on from both of them. It's been pretty clear for a while that neither wants to come to RU.

I think Lovett stays...but Taylor will go elsewhere, even if Whisky dosent take him..

here is the need and solution to the growing leakage: win a couple B10 games before seasons end if the staff wants to hold onto this class..

dont understand who in this class is wavering besides taylor, whose interest in wisconsin has been well known since they offered in april or may, and lovett, who has a girlfriend currently attending psu telling him to go there probably every hour...or more. these are isolated situations and in general, not many of our recruits are expecting our current roster to win a lot of games.

Taylor, with his speed, would kill it in this offense.

Neither want to come here and yet they are still committed? I mean maybe they're just being honest and are truly undecided. Rutgers is still probably held in high regard by both of them otherwise they wouldn't have committed in the first place.

I think both are gone but honestly, it's so unpredictable.

"growing leakage"??? WTF are you talking about? The staff isn't losing "this class." My Lord where do people come up with this shit? There are two kids - TWO - who might - MIGHT - leave as of today. Let me know when we lose 10 kids by Mid-October. Oh, wait, we haven't! Let me know when we lose 15 kids total which, btw, isn't going to happen. We are nowhere close to "losing this class" so please, everybody, relax a little. [cheers]

I'd love to see the stats on college gf/high school bf "relationships" lasting past Thanksgiving or winter break.

Same people in every thread creating the same drama. Their intent is to create the damage. They are not fans of this program and if they are they have serious issues.

Man if there is growing leakage I think they should have that checked out...

When a recruit goes to see other schools, he is still dating. The scholie is null and void no matter what star the kid has stamped on his butt.

This is a big decision for both kids. The fact that they are still committed to Rutgers means they love NJ, Rutgers and the coaches. No one knows where they will end up but keep staying positive with these guys and it will only help.

we cant have this defeatist attitude IMO..even if both end up going elsewhere.

This.
We need to move on and away from kids who pick RU as their fallback school.
If they don't want to play here then don't waste both of our times.

No lol..you try to get the best commits, and if you don't then you dont. What makes us so high and mighty at Rutgers? Right now our talent sucks.. We can't tell any legit athletes right now to go screw themselves.

Well if they were being honest from the start they wouldn't have committed if they were still undecided. I don't get mad at recruits unless they play us.

Lovett sought out the psu offer even though he was committed here. He got it and if he goes there because his GF is there then he's a dope. Plus they are recruiting him as an athlete not RB, they don't need one with their roster. He may not even play RB if that's what he truly wants.

Taylor it seems has had a love affair with Wisconsin since he committed. Even though the love has not been reciprocated. I mean just this week they offered the Purdue commit looking for a flip. Talk about being a plan D prospect. If Taylor can't see he's not a main priority for Wisconsin then his people and him are dopes.

They both have a good situation right now, with a path to early playing time. Yet they continue to play games, instead of showing confidence and solidarity in this recruiting class. They are basically IMO undermining this recruiting class with their actions and indecisions. If they were being honest they would have never committed in the 1st place.

I think there's a pill for growing leakage.

What I don't understand with lovett is he seemingly just reached out to the psu staff so if he picks them, he's committing to a man that has basically only gotten to know him for about 3 weeks now. He has no bonds with him and lovett has no idea what kind of sleazeball Franklin is seemingly.

These are high school kids. The schools that are recruiting them have better teams, programs and fan support than we do. They have better resources. They have bells and whistles that we don't have. We are trying to sell them on the future while we get blown out by 128-0 combined two weeks in a row. They are also selling them on the future while they compete with and beat top 10 teams.

I truly hope they stay committed but you can't blame a high school kid for not being intrigued by these other programs. It's not an easy choice when you have many around you trying to influence you.

It is going to take a while before kids stop using RU as a safe school. It happened quite a bit with Flood's commits and it does appear at least that these two may have the same mentality. It sucks but until we start winning some games I fear it will continue. I am always a little leery of the commits who have no other p5 offers, or if they do the offers are from schools similar to RU, and we are their first big time offer.

Time to move away from these NJ kids! They obviously want out of the state. They could care less about state pride. This is the challenge Ash faces. NJ is a unique state, as it has no identity being located so close to NY. No other state faces the same demographical disadvantage. The top kids in their respective states want to stay in-state. In NJ, they are begging to leave. Ash needs to expand his recruiting to include other areas because the top kids in NJ just have no interest in staying.

This is probably the attitude Flood had when he couldn't land any top NJ talent. Look how it turned out for us, years of dismal recruiting classes leading to our cupboard being bare today. We can't give up, and I'm sure Ash's staff is trying hard to keep these guys committed.

The cupboard became bare because all these top committed players left at the first sign of a better offer. They ran out of the state!

The cupboard became bare because Kyle Flood didn't even attempt to put forth the effort required to recruit these top tier kids, and the kids and their parents knew it.

You can't blame the kids for not wanting to play for that buffoon.

Really. We have gone from Flood being a poor recruiter to being a coach who didn't even try nor did he put in the effort. Flood was a poor coach who had trouble even keeping assistants on board so I am sure that most of the top tier recruits knew it and didn't want tp play for him. That I will accept. But saying he didn't put in the effort is overkill. I am sure he tried, he wasn't successful on any level, but I am sure he put in the effort.

I find it hard to believe Flood didn't put in the effort.. the RU coach who didn't put in the effort was Eddie Jordan

I had a talk over the summer with a current (non-fb) coach at RU

I was surprised he seemed to think positively of Flood (other then his inability to discipline kids)- he thought Flood was a hard worker and a good football mind.

Personally, I can't stand Elmer, so was shocked to hear this

When asked about Jordan ,it was quite a different story. He thought Eddie was coasting his time here
