And you went to RU and got your masters somewhere else ... Do you say RU or the other school? I am starting to say the other school.

Seriously? I am happy to say Rutgers I am proud of what my Rutgers education has allowed me to accomplish, even though I have another degree from a "better" school. If you are proud of where you are in life, there is no need to inflate anything. And saying you went to a better school isn't going to impress anyone anyway. Its all about what you do with it. I know a lot of really talented people who went to shitty schools, and a lot of putzes who went to really good schools. No one thinks more highly of the latter because of the degree on the wall.

Wow. Go ahead. Say the other school. Then stop coming here.

How many times does it need to be said: We are a university, not a football team. And I am a much bigger fan of Rutgers University (OK, Rutgers -- the State University of New Jersey) than I am of the football team.

And, if you did graduate in 1994, you know we've had worse years than this one. Several, in fact. I can think of six right off the top of my head since 1994.

Man up. For better or worse and all that. RU was your first love so stop kidding yourself. To paraphrase Keep some powder dry, the Banks will rise again.

I say both...but RU is my alma mater...the undergrad always comes first

I proudly say "Rutgers College" even though I earned a doctorate after Rutgers
unless the inquiry has to do with the profession of my advanced degree

I say both, but which one I say first depends somewhat on the context. I live outside Atlanta, work in engineering, and went to Georgia Tech for my Master's - so that carries more weight professionally to say I went to Tech. But I proudly proclaim I went to Rutgers and have far more Rutgers bling/attire than GT stuff.

If I knew you...I would then start to say that I no longer knew you.

Unbelievable that you would equate the football team to your RU education and events in life.

BA from Rutgers; JD from Seton Hall. I have never considered myself a Seton Hall alumnus or followed any one of their sports teams. I proudly wear my Rutgers apparel and support my school. I only indicate Seton Hall on direct inquiry about my law school.

I just tell everyone that I went to Alabama for football and Kentucky for basketball. SEC! SEC!

Seriously, what a lame OP.

Same here, except B.S. in engineering. What year from Seton Hall. '95 here. I was there during their final 4 appearance, yet I never cheered for them. Law School being in Newark away from the main campus had something to do with it, but I was too focused on studying.

I did both at RU, so it's easy for me. Why would you go elsewhere? You just turned 21, probably just figured out all the bar specials up and down Easton, and then you left? Bad decision.

Rutgers College. Don't really have much emotional attachment to my other (graduate) school, although I do follow its sports. I do not contribute $ to my other school, either. Others folks likely share that, only donating to their undergrad school?

Forever proud of my Rutgers education. If a bunch of clowns have a water balloon fight at the Smithsonian, it doesn't make the Smithsonian a circus.

Trumpet, you and I have Rutgers undergrad and Georgia Tech grad degrees in common. I always say I graduated from Rutgers. But I completely understand your situation.

I happily (well, mostly) spent 8 years, and proudly earned two degrees drom Rutgers University. That is not going to change.

A better question would be, is it slightly embarrassing to tell others that you spend money to watch Rutgers football live at the moment?

I went to a to 25 law school after graduation and never mention that school. I always proudly say Rutgers. I wish I could relive those days. I had an awesome time there.

Except in contexts where the graduate degree is the one that matters, always RU, and I often add Cook College.

My situation and thoughts exactly. Although whent student loan payment is paid, it says "Seton hall", just so I never forget....what a dumb decision that was ha

Sometimes I say Sisters of the Poor when asked. That's pretty much how Rutgers acts anyway... Always penny wise, pound foolish.

Sometimes when people ask me where I went to school, I name my elementary school, St Judes other times I say, I didn't go to school. I was born this way.

I always say RU, I only say law school (Fordham) if someone asks even though it's a top 30 school. Culturally and experience wise I identify with RU, have never even been to the main campus for Fordham.

RU shaped me in a lot of ways. They just won't see any more donations, athletic or academic, from me, if they keep Fraud.

so sad but expected--we eat our own ,yet want a great university--stop going to games, stop donating when we lose ,take off that RU shirt , attack RU for any reason-- it goes on and on but I know there are truly loyal RU people around that wll "do or die for RU

I went to two Ivy League grad schools after graduating from Rutgers (one had a great football team - Penn, and one was horrible- Columbia). I never talk about them, unless someone asks where I went to grad school.

I don't mind graduating from a university that is having a bad football season, but the arrests really bothered me because no matter how we performed, I always took pride in our clean program, one that always did things "the right way." This season will be a memory soon, and I'm looking forward to better seasons ahead.

I tell them that I went to Rutgers when both the basketball and football teams were winners.

1994 Rutgers 1997 Seton Hall

I have 2 bachelors degrees from RU abs a masters from another school. I always say I went to RU when asked. I'm sure most have no clue where I got my grad degree. Football team winning or losing does not have any bearing on telling people where I went to school.

I went to a top 30 law school but regard my undergrad degree from Rutgers College as something special. I , like you, took great pride in our reputation as a clean football program and regard it as the biggest casualty of this very disappointing season.
