Where was the Tylin Oden series vs. Indiana?

I read that Ash was going to use Oden for at least a series per game, where was he on Saturday?
Up 24-13 in the 3rd quarter, we could not buy a first down, and perhaps a change of pace could have helped. Six or seven three & outs in a row, give the kid one series...?

I think the drop-off in the 2nd half was just so odd, they expected more of what we saw in the 2nd qtr, and then it quickly became an urgent matter

They were backed up almost all of the 3Q. Don't think they wanted to put Odin in back up to the goal line

all the more reason for a change of pace?

We started inside our own 20 or 10 about 6 times in a row during the 2nd half. No way in hell you put Oden in there IMHO.

BTW if they made the move, and he turns it over, this board would have destroyed Ash for the move.

Not really how it played out. At least 4 drives in the 3rd qtr started outside the 20 yrd line.

Wrong.

Drive 1 - scored after fumble inside IU territory
Drive 2 - our own 25
Drive 3 - our own 12
Drive 4 - our own 25
Drive 6 - our own 26
Drive 7 - our own 25
Drive 8 - our own 1
Drive 9 - our own 13
Drive 10 - our own 12
Drive 11- our own 16

...so I should have said "25" instead of 20, big deal, SMH. Anyway that's 1 drive inside the 10, 4 drives between the 10 and 20, 3 on the 25, and 1 on the 26. Average starting field position, following the easy TD to start the half, was the 15.5 yard line.

Ash stated he wanted to get Oden a couple of series a game if the situation was right. Obviously he did not feel that way. So no Oden.

I think with the rise of Gio coaching staff is not seeing the need to force feed Oden, especially in a close game.

Even moreso given Indy's D took total control of the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half. Having a zero pass option was probably not the best call there.

When I was sitting in the stadium the guys around me were talking about making the QB switch in the 3rd and 4th Q. Each time RU got the ball we said this isn't the best time to make a switch. When watching a game or reviewing a game I don't just look at stats but momentum, field position and the situation of putting in a cold QB. During the game we really didn't see a good position to put someone else in, even thought we were all wanting Tylin to go in.

4 out of 5 started outside the 20 yrd line in the 3rd qtr. Is a drive starting at the 25 yrd line too precarious a situation for Oden?

Apparently that's how they felt during the flow of the game. Do you honestly think it would have made ANY difference? Their DL manhandled our OL in the 2nd half and we couldn't run. Needed to throw but Gio wasn't getting much time then, well, Patton drops a ball in his hands in the end zone and that was that.

Yeah, I already said this above.

Well if we don't play him why did we burn his red shirt?
To run a dozen or two plays this season? To throw a total of 5 passes??
Give the kid a few more snaps either at MSU or at MD.
Nothing to lose..
