Who's out there that runs the spread?

Perfect world, that's the offense we should run with a coach having HC experience running it. I don't care if he's from a FCS school as long as he's a proven winner and young. I would prefer a FBS school, and if he's just the OC there, I'd pass, and go for the HC from a FCS school. One thing we've learned is being a HC for the first time shouldn't happen at the FBS level.

When has a spread team ever sustained success in the Big Ten or SEC? Joe Tiller's Boilermakers? We've all seen what happened to Auburn and TexasAM. Urban Meyer is about to hit a slide like he did at Florida.

Here's what is needed in Piscataway:

1. A stoic leader who's unfazed by both success and failure
2. Minimum 50 years old with head coaching experience
3. Recruiting connections in either Ohio, Pennsylvania or the East Coast
4. Defensive-minded coach
5. Sustained success (.500 or better) over a minimum 5-year period

I'm going to love watching this board melt down over the next few years if a HC running the spread is brought in. The only WR on the roster that would thrive in a spread is Grant. The strength (and depth) of this team on the offensive side, RBs, would be underutilized. And the TE's aren't strong enough receivers to power a spread.

There are different types of spread offenses. You can spread to run like the Oregon or Ohio State offense or spread to pass like the Texas Tech or Baylor's of the world.

I think the OU/OSU offense would work much better at RU. If anything I don't want to see anymore plays needing more than 1 yard with a fullback on the field.
