I've seen many posters say things like "it doesn't matter which QB is playing, they'd all do the same" and have seen people say our division is so difficult it doesn't matter who the coach is because we'd still lose to Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, and Penn State each year.
Do people really believe that?
IMO, good coaching can help teams compete and even beat teams they should have no business beating. Have people become so accustomed to lackluster coaching at RU that they think the school is immune to the successes of a GOOD coach?
Same with the QB situation. Maybe nobody on RU could do any better than Laviano but to think that simply because we see Laviano struggle that everyone would the same is ridiculous imo.
