He laughed at Rutgers. His brother is a cop (NJ I believe) and was talking to a friend of mine a few years ago. Basically trashed Rutgers and laughed about how he would easily recruit NJ. Now, I have nothing against a cocky arrogance of the man its a desirable trait in a head coach. In this case though I see a snake that would jump ship in a heartbeat and leave us in the lurch.

Maybe he was since promoted but was a cop. Again not the point of the story.

Also Miami has done fine if not better so far after getting rid of him so is it coaching or talent?

We have had 1 good coach in the last 30 years. Thats right 1. Yet many of our most loyal fans and board contributors think Golden or any coach that has landed a much higher job than ours is not worthy. Laughable. The only people who are less deserving than Golden or anyone else are Flood, Shea and Graber. Time for this board to get a grip. Taking a chance on an unknown entity that has a 25% chance of successfully recruiting the northeast and mid atlantic would be the real tragedy here. You just cant win here without the horses.

Cops don't get promoted to sheriff hahaha it's an elected position.

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno occupied the position immediately prior to Golden. I know it's not the point of the story, but if that important detail was so comically butchered, then I'm considering the rest of the account was equally so. Dismissed.

Why do you want someone who failed to win with more horses vs easier competition than Rutgers faces?

I want someone who can recruit and restore pride in the University. Whether that be Golden or someone else, doesn't matter to me. Offering Dino Babers or some other unknown commodity from the MAC is just plain silly. If you don't have ties to the northeast you won't effectively recruit the northeast. We will be in the same spot 5 years down the road without the horses,

Will never understand the fear of hiring someone who will leave if they do well. That's what I hope for. We hired Flood and people said he would be loyal. He could not get hired anywhere now because he's awful. If golden came here and won big and left, I'd be thrilled

Ugh there aren't many more silly reasons to not hire somebody as a rumor that his bro trashed us and he may leave. He did a wonderful job at Temple and worked under extremely difficult circumstance in Miami. Imagine recruiting with NCAA violations looming for years. He is a Jersey guy and we know he can recruit. Bring in a strong defensive coordinator and we are headed in the right direction imho.

Golden had some highly ranked classes which showed how good he was at recruiting, but, he was unable to turn those high recruiting rankings into consistent winning. He lost the two bowl games he coached.

The simple reason to not want Golden is that he's not a good coach. He couldn't win with elite talent at Miami & he beat no one at Temple.

We have had NJ ties for the last 10 years and havent effectively recruited the northeast. We need an identity change. Id be all for bringing Dino Babers in and the Baylor playbook. Id rather watch us try score 70 points every game than go into a shell and take the air out of the ball in the first quarter. An exciting aggressive offense would do more for recruiting than some retread that was born in NJ.
