Long time lurker here and follow and post on Nj.com a lot especially the rutgers football content but I am amazed by how come over to trash and pile on the program more than they are already going through. Don't get it. I don't get the hate that the program goes through. I wish Nj's best would just get the message that people don't respect Nj football with rutgers being this poor.

I guess they have to vent because they had to sit still in church earlier listening to the preacher.

Forget it Jake, it's Jersey.

There is not a lot if support for Rutgers Athletics in the State of New Jersey. Most people in NJ view the Athletic Department as a tremendous waste of money. Now that the department is being run by a politically connected AD, that perception is going to get worse.

It's the same guy with multiple names. It's the same guy that has the fauxflood Twitter account. He's more dedicated as a troll then our fans are to our football team.

Notre Dame and Syracuse dolphinfloggers need something to make them feel good about themselves this year.

This may be the most ill-informed, incorrect statement in the history of this board.

This. It is not just sports that they post venom, they also post venom about pretty girls, accident victims, wrong weather forecasts etc. They are better at everything than everyone else in their minds.

I don't think anyone in NJ finds Hobbs to be connected to Trenton. Outside of SHU fans or law school alums I think few were familiar with him before he came here.

Those people.. the New Jersey based ones at least.. have ties to other schools.. or ZERO schools and follow pro teams.. when they are winning...

They are under the mistaken impression that they are somehow paying for Rutgers athletics. They also assume that Rutgers wastes their tax dollars as badly as every other New Jersey state institution.. dead wrong there as well.

No mass media outlet has any kind of interest in educating people about one of the better things in New Jersey... Rutgers. The TV networks are all in New York or Philly... they only cover Jersey when there is "good video" or some sort of scandal or horrific crime or event.

They are still covering a traffic jam from a couple years ago because their is the whiff of political scandal.. GOP scandal.. from across the river. Comparatively, they dropped McGreevy and Corzine's crimes rather quickly.

I agree with the "Forget it, Jake" poster above.. "It's Chinatown". It is what it is. Haters gonna hate. Pick your idiom.

What some shmuck on a message board says is completely meaningless..I guess that goes for me too. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
What we do as a program is what counts. We all see the same thing on Saturdays. The best way to respond is to not respond.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it, SMH!

It is mostly jealous Uconn fans who who are still in denial about their place on College Football. Cuse fans who still hold a grudge, Penn State fans from New Jersey who love to hate the local team almost as much as they hate themselves and clueless idiots who want to riot if a penny of state funds go to Rutgers but who don't say a peep when the state gives billions to a mall.

You know ... the scum of the Earth.

I must say, as you may recall I was very displeased when Hobbs got the nod. I was upset at the way he was hired (what I was told - I can't back it up), and what his credentials were. I did not want another Mulcahy...I wanted an athletics professional. Someone who was an AD and had AD experience. Like Julie, only the right candidate.

Once the hiring passed, I shut my mouth about it, and I am glad I did. In a short time, Hobbs has shown a great acumen in this role. He still has a lot to do to be considered a good AD for Rutgers, but he has really settled in well. We are scandal free, a lot of the negativity surrounding the AD has seemed to fade, and I finally feel like all of the nonsense is in the rear view mirror. Of course we are fully back to our losing ways, but I expect that will come around in time.

Having known Pat since he taught my UCC Law class at Seton Hall and as Dean of Seton Hall Law School, and having seen the shortcomings of our past ADs, I had a strong sense that Pat was going to succeed. Pat is one of those people whose personality and business acumen would help him succeed in any role. First and foremost, he is a good listener. Second, he knows how to compromise. Third, he has a vision and a way of effectively communicating his vision. Having Sarah as his Deputy is huge.

Yeah, I know you were all in from the start. I have a partner who served on the board at SHU law who was less than enthusiastic, which informed my opinion. I was at RU, so I had never dealt with him personally. Some of the issues he had with him certainly have "substance" though. But none of it means he can't be great here, and so far, his tenure looks really good. I am firmly pro-Hobbs at this point. Would like to see him make some moves though now that fall sports are ending. I am just looking for continued momentum in fundraising and continued upgrading of staff at this point.

It's the Cuse a-holes. Their FB program collapsed once RU got serious about competing, so they naturally believe RU must fail in order for them to succeed.

The UCONN crowd is about to throw in the towel on big time FB after the failure of the weirdo Diaco and Big 12 non-invite.

Funny you say that, because there was someone in my office who is not a Rutgers fan but went to SHLS who was not too fond of his performance as dean. Part of the problem for this person was that Hobbs was doing double duty as the temporary AD and the law school dean, and the feeling from this person was that he neglected the law school dean part of the job. The comment at the time of the hiring was something along the lines of --this was his dream job and hopefully he will succeed at it.

They said RU AD was his dream job? I hadn't heard that. That's really good to hear. Like with Schiano... when people get their dream job, they tend to be tireless at it.

No, I think they thought that he was so busy and devoted to doing the Seton Hall temporary AD job that being an AD at a major university like Rutgers was his dream job. The thing that made sense to me was his role in the Pru Center and cutting the deal to play SH basketball games there. Glad it has worked out so far, and hope to see many more successes for RU athletics.

Well, to be honest, AD of a Big Ten school and all that comes with that has to be a dream job for any college sports fan. Of course, the best perks come with a winning program.
