For those who may have missed it, SHU got #1 BE seed, defeating Butler by 9 after being down 9 with about a minute left! (18 point swing in one minute!)

The Pirates are at RPI 41 right now, but their only RPI top 50 wins are over DePaul, which is exactly at 50 right now. I would guess that they're in if they make the BEast tourney final and not if they don't (and maybe not if the opponent in the final isn't DePaul). The BEast bracket gives them a potential semifinal game against St. John's, which did beat them in the regular season, so it might not be that easy.

Yes. I shouldn't have skipped that step - if they win the tourney, then RPI, etc. don't matter.

I think SHU is in no matter what....that's a tournament team right there...I wouldn't want to be the 6/7 seed facing them as the 10/11 that's for sure.

still I cant believe a team can be outscored by 18 points in a minute...the Butler coach she be canned and those players will have nightmares

There was some weird stuff that happened in the last 60 seconds, most notably a Butler player turning over an in bound play stepping over the line and then getting a T for protesting the call.

I was told a long time ago by a sportswriter that it is possible to win after being down 10 at the 1-minute mark. It was part of my complaining about those end-of-game fouls that seemed stupid. I now put up with them but still don't like them.

Good for Seton Hall. I miss those short bus trips on the Rollin' RAC.

RPI 41 is an okay place to be if you're from a major conference, but I don't think the BEast is a major these days, particularly given the decline at St. John's. The Pirates' big problem from the perspective of getting an at large bid is that they haven't beaten anybody any good other than DePaul, and that's not going to change in the BET.
