After a quick turnaround, the team is in Louisville for the Cardinal Cup which is being played at the Par 72, 6374 yard U of L'ville Golf Club.

Rutgers will send out 4 of the 5 who played earlier in the week in Sr Lucrezia Rossettin, Jr Grace Lu, Soph Krystal Li, and 6th Place finisher, Frosh Joline Truong. Joining them will be Soph Lorena Rossettin who played a major role in RU's 2 Spring Championships with Top 7 finishes.

It's too early to say, with rankings perhaps as much as a month away, which teams are good or not so good but would not call this one of the strongest fields RU will face but ya never know year to year. Some other teams in the field of 15 are WKU, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, Mercer, Middle Tenn, James Madison, and Toledo.

Today's rain delayed first round started disastrously for the Ladies who were in the last grouping of tee times off #1 with Mercer and Cincinnati. After 2 holes, the 5 players were 10 Over Par including playing the Par 4, 367 Yard 2nd at 8 over with 2 Double Bogeys and one Quadruple Bogey. To their credit from there on they got it together climbing the leaderboard till they took the lead by the turn and didn't look back.

Rutgers was led by Edison's Grace Lu whose 3 Under 69 (4 Birds, 1 Bogey) leads the field by a stroke. She was followed by Joline Truong's Even Par 72 (T7). Lucrezia Rossettin and Krystal Li shot 75 which tied them at 21st. Lorena Rossettin, playing her first match of the season, shot an 83 (T76) which didn't count in the team score.

Tomorrow's 2nd round pairings will be with Middle Tenn and WKU with the last tee times off #1. Hopefully they can get past #2 a little easier.

What are the overall rankings of the teams in the tournament? Is this a strong tournament?

Previously the first rankings usually didn't come out till early-mid October but that was with Golfstat, who lost the NCAA contract, and Sagarin. Last year the new Official Scorer, Spikemark, fiasco delayed it till they were replaced in December. I'm guessing it will be around the 1st half of Oct.

A quick check did'n show any team that participated in the '24 NCAA's. There are a couple teams opening their '24-'25 season. Louisville is playing on their home course which is a big advantage.

If you want to see a strong field wait for their next event out on the west coast. Of the 10 teams RU will face. 7 made the '24 NCAA's including '24 National Champ and pre-season #1, Stanford.

Today's round didn't go as well for the team as yesterday, allowing WKU to come up and tie RU for first going into tomorrow's final Round. As a team RU shot +9 while WKU shot +3. 3 stroke behind is Middle Tenn in third after a team +6.

RU's Jr Grace Lu increased her lead to 2 strokes after shooting an Even Par 72 and 3 Under for the 2 Rounds. Frosh Joline Truong sits tied with 4 other for 3rd after a 1 Over 73 and 1 Over for the tourney. Soph Krystal Li shot 76 and sits T26. Lucrezia Rossettin shot 78 and is tied for 34th. Lorena Rossettin shot 76, entering the final round in 67th place.

The women next take the course in 2 weeks when they travel to Seaside, Cal for the Molly Collegiate Invitational. The field for this event will be a big step up for the team. 7 of the other 10 teams made the NCAA's last year including the defending National Champion and pre-season #1 Stanford with Holmdel's Megha Ganne.
