Women's Golf Faces Daunting Task At Charles Schwab Collegiate - Final Results

In what will likely be the strongest field the team will face, likely only surpassed by the B1G Championship, the women travel to Fort Worth, Tx for the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate starting tomorrow. The 11 team field, led by #15 Wake Forest, includes 4 others ranked in the Top 25 and 4 more ranked from 33rd to 64th. After that you have Tulsa at #100 and RU #112.

In tomorrow's two rounds, Rutgers will be paired with Tulsa and add'l players from other schools competing as individuals.

A little late but I was out playing golf myself today.

First, a positive. In today's 1st Round, Rutgers Junior from Edison, Grace Lu, scored a Hole in One on the 177yd Par 3 7th hole. Big Congrats to her.

Overall in the first round Rutgers shot 300 (+16) and was tied with #45 Texas Tech for 9th in the 11 team field . Rutgers was led by Frosh Joline Truong's 73 (+2)

The 2nd round was more difficult for the team with a 310 (+26) which droped them into 11th and last, 3 strokes behind Texas Tech.

Things didn't go well again for the team with a 304 (+20) in today's final round. The team finished +62 and 11th of 11, This was a tough field to compete against and the team is not currently on that level.

Frosh Joline Truong was RU's top finisher with a 3 day +12 and a T37. She was followed by Grace LU, T48, with a total of +15. Lorena Rossettin was T51 with a total +17, Lucrezia Rossettin was 54th at +21 and Emily James 55th with a +24.

Individually A&M's #36 ranked in D1, Cayetana Fernandez, jumped out of the pack, shooting a 3 Under 68 to win the title by 2 strokes over Wake's Macy Pate and A&M teammate Venessa Borovilos.

Thus ends the Fall portion of the schedule. The team will next compete in February along with such events as the Rutgers Invitational in April and the loaded B1G Championship.
