2 Day, 54 Hole tourney is hosted by UCLA at the 6,359yd, Par 72, Valencia CC in Valencia, CA. Top 50 ranked teams competing are #13 Arizona, #28 Cal, #29 Baylor, #31 UCLA, and #43 Pepperdine. Last season UCLA made the 2024 NCAA Final, losing to Stanford 3-2 in the championship match. At #36 Arizona's Charlotte Back is the highest ranked player in the field.

#104 Rutgers comes in after finishing 4th out of 15 at the Paradise Inv, placing 3 members in the Top 15 individually. It was their best result so far in '24-'25. They had another 4th at Louisville but Paradise was against a stronger field. There is also a wild card in the 12 team field. Rutgers is the only team from East of Texas BUT along with 11 NCAA D1 teams, there is Nihon University from Japan. All I know about them other than grads Mao Saigo was the '24 LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year and Shijeki Maruyama won 3 times on the PGA Tour between 2001 and 2003, is it's a large school (70k+), had a football team till recently, and turned out a number of Sumo Wrestlers.

Rutgers will go with their regular lineup led off by Frosh Joline Truong. Currently, she is Rutgers' highest ranked player at #369 out of 1,875 with enough qualifying rounds. In Round 1 she will be followed by Soph Lorena Rossettin, RsSo Grace Lu, Sr Lucrezia Rossettin, and Frosh Judy Amato. Soph Emily James will compete as an individual.

In Round 1, Rutgers will be paired with UCLA and Cal, teeing off #1 in the Shotgun Start. After that pairings likely will be based on leaderboard position.

It isn't going very well out in California. The team started 4 Over after the 1st hole and it never got better. After 2 Rounds, Rutgers is in 12th and last place after shooting +23 in Round 1 and +35 in Round 2 for a two round total of +58. They are 3 strokes out of 11th and 13 out of 10th. No team member is in the top half of the 72 player field. At 13 Over, Joiine Truong and Grace Lu are T41. Judy Amano (+15) stands T50. Lorena Rossettin is T56 (+17) and Lucrezia Rossettin (+21) is T64. Playing as an individual, Emily James is T52 (+17).

It's not like the rest of the field is setting the world on fire. UCLA (-2) is the only team under par on one of their 2 home courses.

Just when you think things can't get worse, they did. RU shot the worst round (+28) for the second time in a row and finished in last place with a Team +86, 11 behind 11th place NM State. The one bright spot was Soph Lorena Rossettin shooting a +2, 74 which tied for 9th best round of the day. Of the 4 other team members, only Grace Lu also shot under 80. In all, only UCLA's Francesca Fiorellini finished Under Par (-9) while winning the Individual Championship by 11 strokes over of teammates Tiffany Le and 12 over Angela Liu.

Lorena Rossettin was Rutgers top finisher (+19) good for T45 in the 72 player field. She was followed by Grace Lu (+20) and T47, Joline Truong (+22) and T50, Judy Amato (+25) and T56, and Lucrezia Rossettin (+33) and 69th. Playing as an Individual, Emily James shot +28, finishing 60th.

It was a sweep for UCLA as they won the Team Championship going away.
