Minnesota and Wisconsin will square off in the National Semifinals (Frozen Four) of Women's Ice Hockey on March 20th. The winner will play the winner of Boston College and Harvard for the National Championship on March 22nd.
Minnesota defeated Rochester Institute 6-2 on March 14 in the National Quarterfinals. Wisconsin defeated Boston University 5-1 in the National Quarterfinals.
The B1G does not currently sponsor Women's Ice Hockey, however it is essentially "next in line" to be sponsored as four B1G schools currently sponsor the sport: Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.
Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Women's Conference. Minnesota won the WCHA Championship this season:
1. Minnesota 22-2-4-2 72 points WCHA and 32-2-4 overall
2. Wisconsin 19-6-3-1 61 points WCHA and 29-6-4 overall
6. Ohio State 12-13-3-1 40 points WCHA and 17-16-3 overall

Penn State competes in the College Hockey America (CHA) Women's Conference and finished in third place at 9-9-2 in the CHA and 17-16-4 overall.
