You need straight up dudes to compete in the B1G
We have some, but not enough
Add in a mediocre game day coach and subpar NIL program and this is what you get

It's chicken - egg
Will someone (person or corporation) step up NIL wise while we're mediocre, or will we need to turn it around before they take the leap and write checks
Personally, I think the latter is more likely, but would love to be wrong

We're in year 5 of GS's return
Schedule and team lined up this year to make a run

What we're seeing in Piscataway, especially in light of our conference mates who've historically not been good now hosting GameDay and all of the promise we had for this year, is nauseating
I know we're injured, and going to SC and getting the dub was always going to be a big ask

But again, what we're seeing, in year 5 of GS 2.0, with the talent we had coming in and coming back, with this schedule avoiding the Big 3 (4 if you count Oregon) is completely unacceptable

Yeah but it’s our first year in an “expanded Big 10”. He has a plan. He now needs a full 4 years to recruit a roster to now compete in a conference with UCLA, Washington, USC and Oregon. You can’t expect us to just beat those guys in year one. Keep chopping 🤪

I totally and unequivocally. Without a doubt agree.Someon come up with a solution for our dilemna please

The offense made no sense last night. Way too much running when the passing game was wide open all night. Why would any WR want to come here?
The issue is that RU was never going to win a shootout vs USC. Just not going to happen. But yes, it was open.

Have to shorten the game somehow, defense just couldn’t get a stop. Makes it difficult to win.

He's right though D
Noles are beyond terrible
Easy money on the Canes -21 tonight for anyone that gambles

Ahh there he is
Can't refute any points, but likes to run his mouth
More bike, less message board for you Bus
Actually I was on the bike today. Malvern to Valley Forge to South Philly. I get done and come to this board and you're are mocking Rutgers Football when your team so much worse!
You are calling out Rutgers Football when your dead beat team is 1-6. You are a complete jackass. Worry about your team loser.

I had a couple of clients down there and rode the CVT, Schuykill, the VF roads and some little MUT out of Radnor 88 times. Great place to ride, plus the Wiss is excellent, if you go for real.
The Wissahickon, Forbidden Trail, is awesome but requires a hybrid bike
The Chester Valley Trail now connects to the SRT in Norristown but I like diverting through Valley Forge. It was packed today but stunningly beautiful.

Wiss is better with FS trail bike. Excellent trails at night. That CVT/SRT connection would have be awesome 8 years ago.

I have a Madone road bike, a Trek FX2 for off road including the Forbidden Trail and a Verve 5 which I used to use but I'm a crazy decent guy so I don't use it anymore as I can't tolerate a bad fall in the rocks at my age.

Congrats

You didn’t make the trip out to Southern California, to see our first B1G road game against the bluest of bluebloods, all so you could ride your bike

Meanwhile, I’m pulling into Doak South for Miami’s inevitable, and possibly record breaking in this awesome series, beatdown of the Noles

Your fandom, though officially over after the Homecoming no show vs MSU and subsequent excuse laden absence vs. Miami in our first bowl game in a decade 40 miles from home, has officially been revoked

You also can’t tolerate actually going to games consistently anymore either, which is pretty sad for someone who used to be such a big fan

Wonder if there is a thread about firing Locksley?
Never said we should fire Greg

This is a thread, talking about football, and our faults, which we should be well past by now, given the talent & experience of this team, and the ease of the schedule, in year five of Greg’s second tenure here, and 20th season as a head coach

Year 5 at Rutgers vs USC?

It’s interesting that some who now claim we don’t have enough players, were so eager to buy into the distorted preseason hype that this was a potential 9 or 10 win team. I think a reasonable person realized that RU had a very mediocre team last year, that finished the regular season terribly. The fact that we had a lot of returning players wasn’t indicative of a sudden contender. Like it or not, the Vegas people understand the landscape and RU o/u on wins was 6.5 . The team is banged up, no excuse but helps explain the situation. In the end it does fall on the coaching staff. However , as we know there will not be major changes for a number of years.

Very good post. I was one that raised expectations. Very disappointed. But figured with a lot of returners and easier sked , the math is there . Something doesn’t add up this year

Well, you never know, with a couple of breaks… we all thought there was a chance for a special season.

This year it has gone the other way, but we have a month left and more opportunities to rescue this season. Let’s see what happens. I am just as pissed as anyone, but you never know what can happen. Don’t give up, support the team and if nothing else, win the tailgate!

It never ceases to amaze me how gullible Rutgers fans are. This is Greg Schiano. This is what everyone wanted. He wasn’t a 500 coach in the Big East but he was going to somehow come in and take over the Big Ten. 5-7 wins a year is what we signed for. Every once In a while we will get lucky and win 8. On the flip side we will have some 3 or 4 win seasons as well. Been saying this since the day he was hired.

It is unusual to have so many injuries. 4-0 start backed up all the hype. Remember the doubters said V Tech was going to be a L.

Not understanding your post. You said once in a while he can win 8. Most thought this was the year given the circumstances. No one said we were going to replace the blue bloods.

Thank you for the lecture. Much needed because Rutgers fans don’t feel sh$tty enough right now. You actually stated what fans expected from him anyway. Rebuild, stabilize and hopefully hand off to someone who can elevate it to the next level.

Don’t think the fans are gullible but realistic. The general feeling was that he would get the team competitive. He has done that and upgraded the talent level. Is he going to get RU to 8 or 9 wins? Maybe not, However, I don’t see other HCs. getting RU to the upper level. GS may not get “it” done, whatever “it” is. For people bringing up Cignetti at IU, please stop. Almost everyone here didn’t know who the guy was last year. He would have been reviled as a potential RU coach.
