You don't have a right to boo

I'd hope the players know that any booing isn't directed at them. I love any kid that takes a chance on the RU football program and believes in how special it can become. However, booing this coach and our clown show administration is justifiable. For the 25K or so that will be in-house tomorrow, it's really the only acceptable way to voice frustration.
The players hear the boos and don't like them. Booing is like a hand grenade, it hits everybody.

Rather than annoying the players who are student athletes who work there ass off, wouldn't it be more effective and mature to just write Barchi, Hermann, and the BOG where you could actually elucidate your concerns?

In fantasy land!
This is big boy football guys, people get cheered and booed, just like every other school with fans in the stands.
You are also way overstating the effect of boos, players need to handle it.
Don't even bother asking how I know this!

Unless your letter encloses a multimillion dollar check you're just wasting your time.

Respect your opinion Zap. I disagree about booing college kids. Pro sports, couldn't care less about booing.

But I am not in fantasy land that writing to Hermann and Barchi and the BOG would be a better use of your time.

Every so often one of the Bootards start one of these holier than thou - do as I say posts telling everyone they should not boo anyone. That is a ridiculous and unrealistic sentiment. Just as fans cheer the good they will voice displeasure with the bad, Booing included. Now in fairness to the OP I agree we should be loud and proud with our cheers for the Seniors... but that really isn't in doubt, the fans WILL cheer for the seniors, so kind of a puzzling post to me.

Now back to the Bootards, to show us all how wonderful and better you are, you can meet before and after each game near the Hale Center, hold hands, and collectively sing the old coke song about peace and harmony to all the players and staff. You know that will do wonders for such fragile people (you know football players).

Just please don't post anymore of your "I never boo, so I forbid you to boo too" posts.

I have been watching Rutgers play football for many years. I am just as disgusted as anybody about where the program is. Just don't think booing does anything at a college event except annoy the players who are student athletes that work their asses off.

Haven't read anywhere that someone says booers don't have the right. By all means if you think booing solves a problem, is harmless, and is more efficient than writing the President, BOG and Hermann, then by all means boo and have fun doing it.

Boos are not rehersed or planed, they just pretty much happen spontaneously.
I doubt anyone thinks they solve anything, but if I was an AD and heard a ton of boos over bad punts, interceptions, inept play calling and decision making, coupled with my head coaches PSA getting unmercifully booed, I'd have to wonder a bit.

Actually I believe I quite clearly stated, fumbling, bumbling play will be booed.
Gary would have booed himself, as I have myself many times on just as big a stage.
Just curious, what is this reference of me being confused by big words and pleasent levels of delusion, sounds like fun, what is that? Are you trying to be funny? I don't believe I've made any personal comments about you
Zap, relax. You think players don't get booed. You think players do get booed. Whatever.

JP there have been several posts on the topic of booing over the last few years, along with the title of this current thread, and some of the responses contained within... several posters take the hardline position that people should not boo. My position is simple... It is simply not realistic (in fact it is absurd). The thoughts about solving problems and writing letters are your spin, not mine.

FWIW I'll boo U. Meyer, opponents committing late hits, refs showing bias, and anything PSU related every time wether it solves anything or not. To bad if you don't like it. And as far as the poor young adult players (young adults that do very grown up adult things) if being booed is intolerable for them then maybe we older adults have allowed the "everybody's a winner crap to go on too long"

Another way to look at this: People who boo at tomorrow's game are exercising their First Amendment rights when they do so. They are protesting Flood, who happens to be a New Jersey state government official when on the field and we have every right to protest when we think state government officials are implementing bad state government practices, in this case playing Laviano over Rettig, among several other transgressions this year. As for the players? As I tell my grade school-aged kids, life ain't fair and life will remain that way until your last dying breath, so find a way to deal with it.

"Don't boo at the game!" is the athletic program's version of political correctness, since booing offends those in the campus community that happens to be those in attendance at the game, as well as a few on this board.

Well the PSA aired and the stadium roared with BOOOOOOs. I noticed Rettig walked over to Flood and tapped him on the butt. Flood said something to him in response. I imagine it was something like, "I'm still not putting you in, Hayden."
